Painting side mirrors

I want to paint my side mirror covers, but don't know if I need to remove the enitre mirror to do so. Do the mirror covers pop off or do I need to actually remove the mirror from the car? Or just mask it off and paint??
:confused.:

yeah, they pop off... you need to pop the glass out first... tilt the glass facing all the way UP, then insert a flat blade screw driver from the bottom, insert it between the white holder & the black mirror glass holder & pry... it will pop off from the bottom, then hinge it up & out... once the glass is removed you'll see the retaining clips for the cover... tricky the first time but easy after that :)

don't just mask it, it'll look like crap & also the edges will be more likely to lift & peel eventually

To take the mirrors off you remove the three screws on the door handles, There is a little one behind the plastic square under the pull handle. Then slowly work your way around the complete door panel and pop it off. The entire panel will hang by the door cables. Then pull the plastic triangle off on the inside of the car opposite the mirror (it snaps off) then undo the three screws holding the mirror on. Make sure you remove the wire harness first and make SURE you keep one hand on the mirror so it does not fall....Keep the window open so you can grab it. Once you have the mirror off and have the glass out push on the inside of the casing and the shell will pop off.

Turbo walked me through all of this at one time when I installed his handmade mirrors =) after that I had the panels off 4-5 times test fitting the mirrors and it was a no brainer.

Hah! Totally read that wrong, 10 minutes of my life I can't get back.......

Wait, don't you have to drop the rear bumper to get the covers off? =)
