FX50 brakes on FX35

Oh your asking about retrofitting a 2nd Gen fx 50 brakes onto a 2nd Gen FX35, correct? If so, the way you worded your question was a bit confusing, but I guess since your question was in the 2nd Gen thread it makes sense now. My guess would be all the brake components would fit in a retrofit.

I'll be testing this theory sometime this week. I'll post my results. But it should bolt right up.
the fronts will bolt right on... the rears will too, but the backing plate would need to be trimmed or replaced, the 35 has smaller rotors than the 50 & the backing plate wraps around the outer edge of the rotors... you could trim that edge or get 50 backing plates & everything else should bolt right on. you do not have to change the rear knuckles like the 1st gens do, the 09 up 35 & 50 use the same rear knuckle that accepts the fx50 brakes no problem

one little problem, brake lines need to be changed. That is about it :D

Did the fronts yesterday and they are a direct bolt on. I grabbed a used set (front/rear calipers, rotors, used pads and lines) from a 2008 G37S for 960 shipped. The G37S (2008-2010) and FX50 (09-10) use the same calipers and rotors. The lines can be manipulated to work.
I havent tried the rears but they do appear to be direct bolt on with the exception of the dust cover. If you take a look at your rears, the dust back plate folds over the rotor. The G37S/FX50 rotors are bigger, thus the back plate must be cut or replaced. A G37S back plate runs about $60 while the FX50 is $110. I don't know if the G37S plate will fit the FX though.

no, the g37s uses a smaller emergency brake... even if you tried to use g37 rear rotors & backing plates & whole ebrake setup the problem will still be that the e brake cable entrance point will be off... you can make it work but it's a pain, only worth it if you have no choice as in your going to use a brembo monoblock setup from a g37 or something that you simply can't get in the fx50 counterpart...

So i should get new rear rotors and back plate? or do you suggest cutting my back plate.

Edit: Ive checked R1's site for rear rotors and they are stating that it fits the G37S and FX50's..... now im a bit confused

there wrong... the g's use a smaller e brake, the drum for the e brake is part of the rotor.
cutting is fine really, especially in your case because if you cut the backing plates, then you would avoid having to remove the whole rear hub to remove the backing plate which is a bit more work & a bit of a pita too...

Saleen00_227- have you noticed a significant improvement in braking performance after swapping out the fronts? Was it hard to swap out? never worked on brakes before. I've been wanting to do this since I saw the fx50 setup. Our fx35 oem brakes are too soft for the vehicle and look funky behind stock 20s.

The Fronts are easy to do. They are a direct fit. The rears just need cutting of the back plate and will bolt right up. Haven't done the rears yet though.
As far as stopping goes. Yes it bites down harder.

Here i just cut the shield. Filed it and painted it after.
with everything mounted. Used steel braided lines.
Its a little hard to get the the bottom mounting bolts. Gotta jack it up a little to get a clear shot at the bolt.

Great job!! Your rims really set off the bigger brakes. It looks, for lack of a better word, proper on the 2nd gen FX's. Definitely on my to do list soon. Great to hear you're pleased with the results. My brakes are getting worn, 27k miles right now, so I hope to get this done before I need to change brake pads. Now I just need to find the best pricing and someone to do it for me...oh yea and the funds too. :err:
Saleen looks really good I'm pretty jealous. I wish I got the fx50 brakes instead of staying with oem size.
Question though, what size spacers did you get and where did you end up getting them ? I was looking at getting H&R 25mm spacers but there a lot of $.. like $140 for a set so like 250 for all of them.
