My-Budget Bass Build

Isn't there a 12v plug in the back on the Left hand side? That would work.

Also, when I wired up Humbertocali's amp, we used the pink wire with no issues. Guess we were lucky.

the 12v plug in the back stays on all the time. not with ignition

any one have a wiring diagram to where would be a easy access to the wiper wire nad what color the + would be

Send a PM to member turbocad6. I know for sure he has the diagram, and is intimately familiar. He may even know which wire to use off the top of his head. He's a bit of a genius like that...

The easy way would be to test the wires with an electrical meter, if you have one.

Did you try the pink wire yet?

Wow. Information overload. I'll try to decipher that. It makes some sense but I want to try to tap into the wire in the back of the car not at the fuse box. This is plan b if pink wire will not work. Plan c is run a wire all the way from under the dash

If you look diagram on page 53, the Orange wire (pin 1 brown plug) is what you're looking for.

good news i tried all 3 bose wires to my amp just to see if it would turn on ( i know i need bigger power/grounds that is on the way) the remote turn on worked for me!
i still may used the switched wire from the rear wiper later if a switch will be needed

hey guys, just a heads up about amplifier overheating... amps are sensitive to there mounting position, some way more so than others but most are to some extent... the heat sink is designed to be facing UP, mounting an amp sideways can cause it to overheat way faster that if it was mounted with the heat sink facing up, that could be why it don't overheat with the seat folded down too as I've seen someone mention in this thread... airflow is important, but amp orientation is also important & many don't realize this...

the worse way to mount an amp is upside down, with the heat sink facing down, that will almost always insure an overheating problem if the amp is pushed anywhere close to it's capacity. only mentioning this as I see overheating has been mentioned here a few times... another cause of overheating is driving a total impedance of lower than the amp was designed to run of course, when bridging or running multiple coils to one channel this is something to check & make sure your not wiring it in a way to cause a lower than spec.ed total impedance...

Turbo..like this..hahahaha....I have probably 1-1.5 inches of clearance with the seats up! No air flow at all, but looks nice. Obviously this overheats easily with the seats up and playing music.

haha, your not the first guy to do that, nor the last, hell I usually wind up with that orientation too, amp in my other car is mounted like that too, not saying it can't be done or even don't do it, just saying that this can be a factor when it comes to overheating & is at least something to be aware of if nothing else...

if you put a few fans on one end of that panel venting into the trunk & an inlet grille on the other you would add a lot of airflow there which would help a lot when it comes to overheating too... airflow across the face can make up for the efficiency in heat dissipation lost from mounting it like that...

also gotta love those old school rockfords:tup:

years ago, back when I had my install shop, I had a customer come in with a big system already installed & he was always overheating the amps... been to a few different guys trying to fix it & then winded up at my shop... he had his amps all mounted to the bottom of his rear deck, upside down:smile (2):

they even added fans & the guy would drive around with his rear seat tilted down just to try to keep them a bit cooler, but no matter what the did it still would thermal shut down within 5 minutes of cranking it...

all I did was unbolt the whole deck, flip it over & built spacers so I could mount it with the amps right side up. simple fix & problem solved, never shut down again, even with the fans then removed... this actually makes a huge difference & is def something to be aware of

Mine will be up and down on the driver side close to the wall. It will be running bridged to 1 sub. it will have plenty of room/airflow so i hope it will be good without a fan.

Impatience got the best of me. I have it hooked up entirely to the stock bose wiring. Only running 1 channel (not bridged yet) until i get the bigger wires put in.

Wow is all I have to say. This infinity sub rocks at only 100 watts. Will be running 250 soon when my amp kit arrives

I made my own rca cables connections without the LOC. I may not use it at all. Not sure what I will do with it
