I decided to go a different route than the usual 6000k -everything (like I did on my last FX) and went with Yellow foglights.
before I went HID, I wanted to make sure I liked the look, so I bought some cheap-o h8 bulbs - Nokya h8 35w Yellow bulbs (claimed to "appear a bright as 85w) for $25 on eBay - and installed them today using sobi's DIY thread

Some may not like it, But I do, I think it gives it a sportier look than th all-6000k look. PLus, the yellow is better in bad weather (tested it in my boy's g37 over the winter) so another reason for the Yellow.

Let's see what you guys think.
The yellow doesn't come out perfectly in the pictures, but you can get an idea of what it looks like. No film, just bulb replacement.

Looks pretty good. The yellow to me gives it a more JDM or Euro look to it, I guess. Are the HIDs stock still?

i've always been a big fan of yellow fogs, really bright yellow 3000k JDM style, hesitating to do it on the FX

yeah I guess, I didnt really do it to be JDM or anything, I just like the look and the function. The xenons and city lights are still stock, changing the city to white and leaving the oem xenons.

go for it man, I think it looks good.

Mad tyte JDM, yo!

I think it looks good Jordan.
Proper fogs are usually yellow. They should work better than the stock.
I think that would be illegal in Canada though since our foglights are our Daytime Running Lights (DTRL) which are law in Canada, and I believe they must be clear..

I like it, I was also thinking of changing my HID fogs to a yellowish (3,500). I am getting a little sick of the 6k. Was also thinking of changing my headlights back to 4,300 for better visability. I guess I should have done this in the winter lol.

I say keep it and go for the HID.

I have same bulbs. I think gold looks so sexy and much better than 6000k. Everyone have 6000k ;-) time to be unique a little :wink (2):

haha yess! exactly! And thanks for the DIY ;)

It looks good. I used to have Luminics yellow on my lexus a few years ago. I think luminics yellow looks more rich than the Nokya yellow fogs. I always liked the sexiness of yellow fogs. I decided to go 4500k on my fogs to though.

Fog light just went out, but I'm not sure if I want to go Yellow again or switch it up.

I've been seeing cars from the factory come with a sort of LED 'cluster' in a standard round foglight housing, much like ours.
Examples: Prius/Ford Fiesta or focus I forget/ Volvo XC90. I was thinking this may be a good look for the FX. It's basically 4 LEDs in a square formation at the center of the round housing.

The volvo lights:

However this fog light has four separate holes in the housing so it would be alittle different then just finding a bulb to look similar.

I'm figuring out how to get something similar:
I know they make LED bulbs that when they click into place, spring loaded panels flare out. Trying to find them now.
Something like this: They're called "Spider Lights"
http://autolumination.com/7443_7440.htm (Scroll down to middle of page)
I like the one with 3 panels (will sort of look like the Aventador DTRL)
However these are 7440 bulbs (for reverse on the FX50, for example) So I need to find something that will work in the fog's H8 socket.

The same site does have h8 LED bulbs but are the regular tower style... http://autolumination.com/headlights.htm

I'm not sure if this will work how I want it to or if I need to do any modifications (trying to avoid that)
But Im not sure if I want yellow anymore. Was thinking of combining the two and having Yellow LED but not sure where to find those and if they'll even look good.

I really do not want to just throw an LED strip on there like everyone deos nowadays unless the bumper has been changed to work with them. I've seen a few FX (saw one today actually) with LED strips just thrown in next to the front plate and it looked too 'thrown on"

If I were to cut and mend together the four sets of foglight plastic surround in order to make place for an LED strip in place of the round fogs, then I would go that route - I wouldnt just throw the on and have both....

Did you really get over two years on the one set of H8 Nokya bulbs?

sorry to bring up this old thread. i was just researching either to go halogen or hid route. i think the halogen looks better when you look straight head on as opposed to HID whereas it glares and tends to look more white than yellow. what did you end up doing after your foglight went out? did you go back to halogen or hid?
