ugly nav mod switch

My local audio shop did my nav,camera,and dvd mod by groundin the ground wire and put my vss wire on this toggle switch. I think it is so UGLY and doesnt belong there on my dash. Have anyone else done this mod with the better lookin switch, something more factory looking?

Purchase an OEM switch like the VDC OFF switch, paint the VDC part black so the switch just saids OFF, wire and mount it in the same spot they put the Speed Sensor disable switch. It'll look OEM!

Someone else did it, but cannot remember who...
 
Wait what the hell did they do to the other switches that were there before? I'm talking about the AFS switch and the DCA switch. They removed it!!
 
can u elaborate more on the meaning of AFS and DCA...I have the 2010 is there a difference from mine and urs? I do have 2 blank spots on there from the get go. One is used for my JL 500/1 bass knob the other as u can see is that ugly switch.
 
He probably doesn't have them. Although....maybe he should because he has IBA .. right ? lol Too much for me, all I have is VDC. damn base model

I notice you have the tech package and was wondering why are you missing those two buttons?

I noticed that since you have IBA, FCW, and LDW buttons that the other two button are missing. Here is what mine look like:

i do have those features bc i do notice the lights turn as i turn and warning distance light comes on as get too close the the vehicles ahead. I'd also circled them on my original feature window sticker. i guess its simply built w/o buttons for the '10 models?

If u ever remember who it was, wld u let me kno if not i mite have to go wit the one below from RadioShack.

Holy crap dude, they removed your AFS and DCA switch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fire0nic3 is right, those two are missing!!!!!!!!!!!

The tech comes with those two switches, so now you can't turn off your adaptive headlights if you wanted to and you can't control if you want or don't want distance control assist! That buttons also allows you to set it by default on or off by holding that button.

the reason I know you have the tech is because not only those two are missing, but you have the FCW and LDW and also the IBA....when someone doesn't get the tech package, it looks like this because also the headlights leveling is manual:

You could have gotten a switch panel at infinitiusa, had 3 extra button spots if you currently don't have options for sport mode, snow mode, and then a blank.
 
Never mind I found out for 2010 they built the AFS and DCA buttons into the navi menu instead of having physical buttons.
 
Ok now that all that is sorted out (thanks to fire0nic3) and those functions are still intact and are in the nav menu on 2010 you can fill that with an OEM switch.

Seeing that you may want a switch that has on/off on it maybe an 09 AFS switch where you paint over the AFS part and leave on/off intact may be just what you were thinking. OEM looking because it is OEM.
 
can someone post a picture of their 2010/2011 FX35 without tech or with tech?

You may have a spot to put a switch in the center switch panel...I know I have an extra spot, not sure for your 2010 though?
 
LOL, did you really circle your vehicle's window sticker with pen just for the sake of this post? I'm one of those guys that tries to keep everything as clean as possible, even the manuals and paperwork. I wish I had the original window sticker for my FX. :nerd (2):

Also does anyone know ho to run the cable all the way to the driver to put the switch in, i jus need to kno how to take it down and put it there ?
 
I purchased and installed an additional snow switch to hook up my HID fogs. I blacked out the lettering I didn't want, the little bar lights up and looks very OE.
 
ya i did a snow switch to run the navtool hack on my G very OEM looking. but paid 80 bones for the switch from the dealer.

can you post pictures and more details of what exactly you did for this? I know others would be really interested too! :tup::tup:

Where did you get the dial knob next to your FCW switch? I'd like to get a knob like that to control aftermarket subs when I get those installed and that switch you have looks very OEM.
