Hello All!

I've been researching and test driving FX35's in my area. I recently found one used at an Audi dealership that was in great condition and at a good price 2004 FX35 AWD with 80K. I noticed the an air bag light flashing while I was on a test drive. Car Fax says the car has never been in a wreak so I paid the $ to have Infiniti do a used car inspection. They said the Right Hand Side Airbag Module needs to be replaced and quoted me $600. I know dealerships all ways rip people off, just curious if anyone else has had similar issue? I was truly considering buying the car just a little concerned. I also found website that will reset this module for $50-$100 and send them back to you. The dealership also said I had weak shocks on the rear hatch and quoted me $600 which was a shock, almost like they are purposefully trying to rip me off.

Any help is appreciated.

Before making any decision, I would find out if that's actually an airbag module that needs replaced. It could also me throwing a false code too. Whatever code it is, you need a Nissan Consult machine to hook it up the the SRS system to pull the code and read it. The SRS airbag problem could be anything from a false code to something very very expensive.

come on you know 200 for the part 400 for the labor, stupid dealers are probably trying to get you to buy one of there used fx's, make sure you get everything dealth with before purchase.

Dude, it's an 04 FX with 80K already. you haven't bought it yet and it already has flashed a few problems. Forget carfax, it doesn't tell you the entire truth. heaven knows what the car has been through. i would suggest you to walk away from this FX and look for another one. you might buy it and fix the issue but it's almost certain that you will face numerous problems down the road. an air bag light coming on during my test drive is a red flag given that members here haven't had that kinda problem with their FX's. Get another car for your piece of mind. GL

If it was something bigger shouldn't Infiniti tell me that during the used car inspection since they checked the car and had it for over an hour? They said they connected a computer to the car and got the codes.
The light didn't come on during my test drive its been on since I went to first see the car earlier this week. The Infiniti dealer also said the actuators on ever door where going bad. I searched this on the forums and found its a common issue but all 4 at the same time, crazy. I haven't seen any issues though when locking and unlocking the doors. I don't know if I fully trust the Infiniti dealer, I feel like they could find something wrong with any car.

ding ding

What gets me is that the maintenance has been meticulous, I had the infinti dealer print me the service records since every visit was at the infiniti dealership I was at
I even saw on there 60K service for $700, sounds like a rip off.

The outside of the car is excellent condition, almost no scratches and no dings
Interior is very good condition just normal wear. I think the only thing stopping me at this point is the Airbag light, which I believe I can send off the module to get flashed for $50 and it should remove it.

Yeah I searched and found that tread and I just watched this guy on Youtube reset this. If this is true the Infiniti Stealership is def trying to rip me off. Wonder if they are mad because I said I would bring the car back for the Dash warranty since I noticed bubbles, maybe they re trying to pad their pockets.

I end up pulling the trigger on the car, thanks to aquilles10, and the post on this forum.
The Infiniti dealership that did the used car inspection stated on the sheet they provided that there where 3 side marker bulbs out, I tested them all and they all work, strange its like they lied about what was wrong with the car.
There quote for each bulb replacement $30
I reset the airbag light using the method of on and off from the forum and has not come back on since.
The dealer left the car running for 30 mins and have driven over 30 miles afterwards, no issues. Hopefully was just a false reading. The sales rep said they replaced a part of the leather seat, wondering if when they removed the seat they set the airbag fault off.
Thanks for the help, hope to make some contributions in the future.

Awesome. Glad I helped. Who knows what may have caused the light to come on but at least other people have gone through it too and know how to solve it. I just had the bubbling dash fixed on my FX I just got last week. Looks much better. But make sure your speedometer back lighting is working. It looks like my dealer didn't plug in the backlighting.

Let's see some pics!

...

I removed my seat once and set off the airbag light for a few days. It happens if you turn the key on while the seat is unplugged.

Over 275 Miles and no air bag light, Awesome!
I am getting my mobile mechanic to do my 2 front wheel bearings today, since they are noisy. $150 for labor, not bad :tonguey: considering I don't want to deal with it and he comes to my house. Stealership quoted me over $1K :eek.:
Other then that the car is in tip top shape, really enjoy driving it. A little bumpy some times but handles real well and pretty quick.

Good to hear. The ride on the FX is ummm....firm. But it's a good tradeoff considering how good the handling is. Any mods yet?
