Metal/Chrome side vents

Pisses me off to no end that FX35 gets the cheap plastic ones and FX50 gets the "high end
chrome, its not like I didn't already spend $50 grand on a car so I have to get the cheap looking plastic crap.

Anyway, anyone tried to DIY and replace them with FX50 vents ? Cost ? Difficult ?

TIA

I'm pretty sure they are the same size. And getting it from the dealer will be expensive. Easy install I'm guessing. Just switch them out. Not hard at all

Well they have to differentiate the models between the two. If the FX35 had everything the FX50 had, then everyone would buy the FX35 instead of the FX50.

In my honest opinion I prefer the silver plastic vents over the chrome vents. I think the chrome side vents makes it look like some ghetto Cadillac that did some shopping at their local Pep Boys for some peel and stick chrome. It's already bad enough our cars come with chrome in the first place. Chrome is just plain tacky.

I'm with Fire0nic3, I prefer the silver FX35 vents over the Chrome FX50 ones. I would like the vents to be even more inconspicuous and think they would look even better in a gunmetal or body color.

The plastic vents make the car look like a cheap ricer, and Fireonic, the thing that differentites FX50 is the bigger V8 engine, that's what you pay for.

I am actually quite upset with a lot of things that are right down CHEAP with FX35 from outside , crappy 4300K bulbs, plastic vents, and lots of cheap plastic inside.

Things I did not pay attention to while buying the car. Sure it handles great and it is a driver's car, but the corners Nissan has cut to save cost on this "luxury" vehicle are down right ridiculous.

Umm that's not true. The fx50 also has rear active steering, black headlights, power adjustable thigh bolsters and extensions for the front seats, big brake kit, 21" rims, and an adaptive suspension. So no the fx50 isn't just about the 5.0l engine.

And WTF about the 4300k bulbs? Every single manufacturer like BMW, Benz, Audi etc etc uses 4300k bulbs in their HID systems. No one uses more Kelvin ratings than that because 4300k provides the most lumens. Now that's just something silly to complain about. Plus 4300K is the only LEGAL DOT compliant spec for HID systems.

If you don't like the car just get rid of it:tup:

If I was as displeased with the FX as you seem to be, I would get rid of it and get something that would satisfy your tastes better.

I like the car thats why I bought it, but there are things you notice after some time that do bother you. Are you telling me all those cool blue looking Acura , BMW and Escalade HID bulbs are the same as on our FX's ? I don't think so. If you make a high end car, make sure it looks high end top to bottom including the HID lights that's my opinion.

You don't have to come down on me as if I hate the car, I am merely pointing out what bothers me, and Nissan is known for cutting corners even in their high end vehicles, usually in the fit and finish materials department...

i am quite sure Fire is aware of all this. imo the FX is in no way shape or form supposed to be compared to Lexus or Acura and so on. sure, they have awesome interior, but the ride is boring. It's a matter of preference that some people like the interior, some don't. FX50 is undoubtedly the superior of the two but to say that Nissan is crappy just because they didn't put chrome vents on your 35 is plain foolishness.

It's not the bulb that's different from Infiniti compared to other manufacturers. It's the type of lens that is used on the headlight projector. ALL MANUFACTURES USE 4300K bulbs. Anything pass 4300K is ILLEGAL because it's not DOT compliant. When you upgrade the bulbs, that's always on you. And Escalades have nice color in the projector lens, but the cut off line is very shitty for a projector. The light is bounced all over the road. And the line is sloppy. The FX has one of the sharpest and best cut off lines. That's why retro fitters love using FX projectors in their installs.

And I'm not coming down on you hard. I'm just saying if I had that many problems with a car I'd just get rid of it....simple as that. All manufacturers cut corners in producing cars. BMW's are able to offer better materials in their SUV's because their built here in the U.S. They save on money by manufacturing here.

reliability is always compromised though. unless you buy those 3 series and call it a day. they are somewhat better than the rest of the line ups.

I like SUV's that handle like a sports car and that's why I like the FX , Acura Lexus or whatever they all handle like mini vans, I was merely pointing out few minor things that bother me and that's all...

from what i see you didnt do research before you baught the vehicle vents are easy to remove just two bolts you can paint dip wrap change, or whatever you have with just 1 hour of your time. But complaining about a car that you just spent as you said $50K for doesnt really make sense to me because why would you just go point and drive off?
