FX37 vs FX35

Loving my wife's 2011 FX35 w/premium -- @ 1,000+ miles, mileage improving, hell, everything improving. This weekend took a test drive of an M37X and G37X. Also have been reading up on Infiniti -- and see the phrase Japanese BMW from time to time. Considering we have had 3 Bimmers, the most recent a 2008 all optioned X3, I would say that is damning with faint praise; but, that's another story.

What "intel" (if any) is there regarding the 3.5 V6 vs the 3.7 V6. Clearly there are differences (HP -- perhaps torque -- and MPG's). Somewhere I read the 3.7 is a somewhat improved 3.5. It seems odd (to me) that the M and G have the 37 suffix and the EX and FX soldier on with the (presumably) older 3.5.

Why (if anyone knows?)

And. . .when should we expect to see the entire lineup migrated to the 3.7 (and why should we care other than the HP imrpovments). The FX seems the CUV version of the M -- the 3.7 engine would seem, er, "a natural."

Anyone care to edumacate me?

Thanks and Happy New Year!

I'm going to take a guess at this. I think Infiniti purposely did this to keep each car up on their line up unique. if all of their cars had the same thing, then it would make buyers have a harder time choosing which car would be best to buy. If you notice Infiniti gives each of their cars something that another Infiniti may not have. A perfect example would be the EX35. The FX35 has all the tech toys, but the EX35 has the blindspot warning system with the power folding second row seats. While the FX35 has things like rain sensing windshield wipers and pre crash motorized seats belts available. Or compare it with the M37 and you see that the M37 has the 3.7L engine and the FX35 doesn't. But the FX35 has front and rear parking sensors with the 4 around view monitor cameras, and those features aren't even available on the M37.

As much as i would like to see the 3.7L engine in the FX, I think Infiniti just does it to keep all their models unique to the category it's in.

By the way they have done it on the Euro version, but then again they always get things first it looks like lol

Hopefully they do a refresh soon and put the 3.7 in. It is strange that Europe has always had it though.

mainly because Infiniti has to compete in a tough European market that's flooded with so many jaw dropping vehicle line ups made by native vehicle companies.

I watched this video thinking, man that is a hot SUV inside and out (not really paying attention to the diesal part)....then I think....oh I got one...man I'm lucky. These cars are sick
