2011 vs 2010 FX35 (worth the 5K difference?)

Hello all, newbie here. But definitely not new to the Nissan/Infiniti scene.

I'm shopping for a new FX35. My dealers have both in stock at pretty good price. However, the 2010 is significantly cheaper (5K less than the 2011). I'm getting 13K off MSRP for 2010 and 8K off for the 2011.

I've been trying to look to see the upgrade/differences between the two models but weren't able to find a detail list. (cosmetic, interior, mechanical, electrical, etc.)

I don't mind forking out 5K addition if the 2011 has better features beside just the power lift gate. Does the packages have any differences or they're pretty much similar?

Can someone help me out? I just want to make sure if it's worth it.
Thanks.
Kevin

I'd save the 5 & get some nice wheels & take the family out for a good steak dinner

^So it's essentially the exact same with the addition of the Power Lift Gate feature?

I was hoping so and not something dramatic like the upgrade between the 03-04 G35 to 05 or 06+G35 Coupe.

Enhancements to the FX for the 2011 model year include: the addition of standard power rear liftgate on all models (late availability); the previous Navigation Package content is added to the Premium Package on FX35 (Premium Package content comes standard on FX50); a new Deluxe Touring Package for the FX50, with Maple interior accents, 21-inch wheels and tires and aluminum pedal accents; black lacquer interior trim is now standard on FX50; and one new color, Malbec Black, is added to FX’s exterior color palette.

^dang? That's all. I guess I'm going for the 2010 then. Hopefully they have my color & option available.

Like gto said, 5K = Nice set of Wheels + coils

Thanks everyone :)

A more substantial, mid cycle update will most likely occur for 2012 models.

i got the same deal back in 04 around this time when i bought 04 fx35, 8k of the price marker, the dealer was trying to get rid of 04's and put in 05's in the lot, i actually got a nice deal they threw in a sport package fx, cuz the 8k was only for the awd, if u talk to the manager at sales, he could prolly give u a nice package + deal

Get the 2010 instead of the 2011. Do you know the 2011 models don't have the power liftgate yet. If you check out Infiniti's website it's a late availability feature, meaning the 2011's won't be getting that option till early or middle of next year.

Other than that there are no other big differences in features, appearance, or options.

Enjoy the new ride! I gurantee you'll love it =]

Oh and the 2009-2010 models may not have the power hatch, but they do have the electronic liftgate closing assist feature. You open the trunk manually, then it closes it electronically after pulling it down.

I've heard dec 31st is the best time to buy, but honestly, i think anytime this week would be a great time to get a year end deal.

Oh well, went and check out, there's no 2010 left in GA with the color & options I wanted.

And you are correct, the 2011.5 are the ones that'll come with the power lift gate - booooooooo.

Anyways, ended up with a 2011 moonlight white + Premium + roof rails + splash guard for 42303 OTD. Sticker price was 47755 + Misc fees and tax. Dealer took off almost 9K off the MSRP.

Played with the finance guy around a bit and end up with a 2.15% APR for 60 months. They can't do the 1.9% promotion because it's either that OR the incentives, can't have both.

Car has 11 miles on it. Taking delivery this Friday.

Saleman was cool + offer minor deal perks.

So I guess I came out alright, not too shaby.

Congrats. Same price I got my loaded 2009 FX50 S for after taxes. I could have chose a new one > $10k off MSRP cause of supplier discount plus another $6k off if 2010 model but turned out lots cheaper for used since first year depreciation is so high and got a steal deal with 100k Infiniti warranty.

CONGRATS. Welcome to your big monthly payment

yea, you tell me, lol. I really don't mind since I the APR wasn't that bad.

Wow, that's a steal. They don't have any good used FX here in the A. Plus the prices are crazy. Pretty much I'm getting a new one for the same price as a used '10. That's wack.

Anyhow, don't know what my first mods should be.

too much options, too lil money to play with. I still have to finish the mods on my G35C and 350z before really doing anything to the FX :)

Dealer said they lost $4k on the car right before I left the lot with paperwork signed after getting to know them well. I flew and drove back with the car almost a 1,000 miles to get the car for the price since the dealer wanted to unload it so bad since the interest was costing them so much, and the owner overpaid, and the 2010s were going and 2011 were coming in. Everything worked in my favor. Plus, as you said, since the new ones are going > $10k off MSRP plus another $6k for incentive from infiniti for 2010, it made the used models drop even more faster. Timing was just perfect and couldn't be more happier.

When you get a car at a ridiculous price, you love the car even more. Kind of like a nice meal that costs $10 versus $60. Somehow I always feel the $10 meal tastes and feels a lot better than the $60 :) Plus if you get a scratch or ding (if someone takes part of your $10 meal versus $60 meal) you get less pissed. :)
