Steering wheel shake fixed

I was able to reach it by turning the wheel all the way and using a pair of large channel locks. Not the easiest to reach, but all things considered, still easier than removing anything.

Had 10 minutes of wheel shake at highway speeds on Sunday. It showed up around 60mph and increased as I accelerated. After one attempt at hard braking it went away for good. Weird.

I just performed this on my FX, now to see if it is better tomorrow when I drive to work. It was loose and I did the half a turn and it snugged up.

I did this last night and my shake seems to be gone but my steering feels tight. Im gonna give it a quarter turn back when I get home from work tonight and see if its better.

Did this today. Just wanted to chime in as someone with ZERO experience working on cars - if you are hesitating on doing this, IT IS RIDICULOUSLY EASY!!!

Some of the previous posts make it sounds more difficult than it is. You don't even need to take off the wheel!!! This is all you need to do:

Park straight, jack it up nice and high on driver front, insert jack stand. Squeeze under car, unscrew ONE phillips screw and BEND down corner of plastic splash guard - it is very flexible. This gives you full access to the bolt to adjust according to previous posts. That's it!! It took three adjustments so far, but has completely stopped the shaking, although I am a little paranoid about the steering wheel not completely (it's close) returning to center. Will be backing out the bolt a touch tomorrow to see if I can get it just right.

It will be fine I wouldn't back it out it will loosen up after a while.

We'll I'm having the same issue, just replaced the front rotors and pads and the vibrations still there when I hit the brakes at 45 to 50 mph, I'll try to tight that steering bolt to see if the shake is gone...
tks for the tip...

OMG thanks is all..

..Actually I had Eibrokes, KYBs, 22mm spacers done all at the same time this weekend and the vibration / shaking got really bad 45-60+. I had a diagnostics list from this to road balace / alignment to replacing ball joints. Luckily this was the first fix and it worked! THAAANNNNKKSSSS OP.

In hopes to get rid of the wheel shake, I installed new rotors, new pads, new wheel bearings, new sway bar end links, and 10 guage crush washer's. Just have to go for a test drive tomorrow. Crossing fingers.
