Remote start

sucks to know. I really really want a remote starter and at least some additional sensor for the stock alarm sometime in the future.

I guess i could live without the remote control but i hate how unprotective the stock alarm is. I want window sensor + jacking up sensor....

Get the OEM alarm impact sensors installed. If someone bumps or jacks the car up, the factory horn will keep sounding. It also activates if someone breaks the glass too. It has 10 different sensitivity settings. The dealer installed mine in an hour.
 
How much did that run parts and labor?

So if someone tries to steal your rims, it will sound too right since it would need to be slightly jacked?

The impact sensor cannot sense the car being jacked up? Only when windows are broken?

If you take the glove box apart like you were changing the filter, you's see this tiny box zip tied to the right side. It will have a turning knob on it with number 1-10 that allows you to adjust the sensitivity settings for it. That's the way you can tell. Or you can just simply set the alarm on the car and kick the tire real hard or knock on the glass with your knuckles. If the alarm doesn't sound, that means you don't have it.


My dealer charged me $55 (discounted since I know them) for the sensors and $150 to install. All they do is tap two simple wires into the BCM (body control module). Nothing else is needed. Actually if you know what your doing, this is a DIY thing.


If someone tries to jack the car up, the alarm will sound depending on the sensitivity level you have it set on. It can actually be made so sensitive that it a big truck were to drive down your street, the alarm would go off. They wouldn't even be able to torque the lugs off without the alarm whining like a bitch:wink:


Actually $200 for added protection is a steal in my opinion and better piece of mind.

They also respond to the car being jacked up. Just tell the dealer to make the settings to very sensitive or slightly sensitive.

Are u talkin abt the oem impact sensor that's listed for around $350 as an option that's u can get when I buy the car? $200 is a great deal!

OUCH! $350? I didn't even know they charge that much. The part has an MSRP of like $100+ I think and an hour or so worth of labor to install. Ofcoarse I got some discounts from my dealer, but that's still pretty expensive.
 
I had a Viper 5902 installed on my 2010 FX35. It wasn't easy for them to install the alarm and most of my local installer turn down installing the first place for the FX back in 2009, because of the push button start and alarm combo was so new to the market. It took them a few day to do it. Another thing is once you have it on and you enter the vehicle and drive the FX off you have to depress the brake and push start. With the alarm it shut the car down and you have to start the FX again to drive it off. I think it will wear out the starter in your car faster and it not convenient. So I got it removed. My two cent!
 
Viper Alarm

I have the Viper 5902 on my 2009 FX35 and love it. After speaking to another member on the post I decided to have a shop in Queens (which I have delt with before) install it. I had them install their alarm with the backup battery/siren, tilt sensor, window controls & illuminated badge on my windshield.(all of which ect for the alarm itself I purchased myself online)
Its great on cold or warm days to get the car started before I step out of the house. The car only shuts off if you step on the brake when you get in. You have to push the push button start when you get in before you depress the brake. Then off you go.........
 
I know tthis two different beast comparing the first gen to the second gen but I have the viper 5902 as well with all of the goodies. pressing the brake is a safety feature for remote starts so you do not put it in gear or someone can drive off with your car without the key. simply pushing the button or inserting the key will deactivate the remote start so you can go.
 
Hello Everyone, anyone got the Remote start\Smart start to work with their 2011 Fx35? I have heard that they can make work, but it will randomly send out error codes, like the TPMS sensor, etc...any help is appreciated...would love to have this smart start install.
 
Just bought a 2010 FX50 and got a Directed Electronics remote starter installed with the cellular module to use the smartphone app. Works pretty well, but have to get the software checked since it sometimes cuts off when you open the door. Have to use a separate fob for the traditional remote start, but I'm hoping to get consistent enough performance with the phone app where I can just leave the fob at home.
 
I have an aftermarket alarm setup using the factory key fobs. I have the Viper 5104 1-Way Security and Remote Start System, with a Smart Start module for Android Phones and a digital tilt sensor. I love it. It uses the factory key fobs and all of the buttons are still fully functional, I also lost no functionality in the cars systems such as the buttons on the door handles and trunk lid, or the auto headlights. Three years now no issues once I went to the right place. I had Best Buy do the install on my Gen 1........ what a headache that was, I should have known better. Once I reasearched it well and took it to a reputable shop who deals with high end cars such as Lexus, Audi, Infiniti exct. I have had zero issues. One dealer said they would do the install but qouted me a ridiculous price like $1500 and that didn't even include the digital tilt sensor. Another Infiniti dealer reffered me to the shop where they send their cars for such work and I dealt with them directly for $800. I've gotten so used it especially in the winter I don't know what I'd do without it. I had them install it to work with my factory key fobs so I do not have to carry around two remotes. So I remote start the car by pressing lock twice on the factory key fob and it has the same range you get from the factory fob. The aftermarket Viper remotes work too if I want extra range but since I have the Smart Start on my cell phone I only carry the factory key fobs. Highly recomended for anyone who wants it done. JUST MAKE SURE THE SHOP YOU GO TO HAS EXPERIENCE DEALING WITH CARS THAT HAVE COMPLICATED ELECTRONIC FEATURES SUCH AS OURS. If you can preferably go to someone who you know for a fact has done this type of work on Infiniti's and had good results you should be golden. Even though with time all shops will be decent with this type of work Nowadays you have Ford's, Kia's and Hyundai's that have features like power liftgates and trunks, bluetooth, gps, usb, voice commands. I got into a friends Ford Escape the other day and couldn't believe how many comfort features it had it was pretty decent.

It's awesome to start the car when I'm on the other side of the city and I turn the FX on while on my way back to the base and about to get out of work. The only drawback is that it sometimes has a hard time connecting when it's cloudy and raining.

Really? I never really have a problem wit hit connecting in bad weather. What cell phone service provider do you have? As long as your car and your phone are in strong service areas it should work fine. I have Verizion and it has worked flawlessly. I have had the Smart Start app act sketchy about three times the whole time I've had it and all three times I was in a heavy building structure where cell phone reception was choppy. It is awesome though, imagine life without it now that you've been spoiled by unlimited distance on a remote start lol.
