Having some problems with my brakes clicking...

So lately I've been having an issue with my brakes clicking while going into reverse. It sounded like the pads were shifting so while I was taking my car in to the dealer to get the drivers side motor mount replaced I asked them to look at the brakes for me. The thing is, they told me that the brakes were installed incorrectly, funny considering that the dealer's mechanics have been the only people to EVER touch my brakes... The rep on the phone keeps telling me that they need to install a "hardware kit" but would not elaborate on what was included in said "hardware kit" lol. So I guess my question is, wtf is he talking about?? He had quoted me at $400 for parts and labor but that seems a bit steep for, what I am assuming to be nuts and bolts, and the brake system. Anyone else have this issue?! Please help!! Any input would be greatly appreciated because Lord knows that the last thing I want people to see is a clean FX with SQUEEEEEKKKYYY brakes that click and make all sorts or noise while I moving less than 2 mph...

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it!

the Hardware kit was a fix for the reverse squeal, which only fixes the problem for a few days. Comes right back. Every '05 FX, as well as other years has the same problem. Sounds like another case of a dealer rape. Get the hell outa there right away!!! They're trying to fvck you good.
Sorry, but the Brake squeal will never go away w/ the stock parts on an '05. If the brakes perform, notwithstanding the noise they make, they're installed fine. You'll have to change out to aftrmrkt rotors & pads to kill the squeal.
What a bunch of crooks :mad.:

I think the HRDWRE kit was a revised clip that holds the pad. They're likely just selling you a new set of brks. Unless, can you imagine if they installed the clips, but didnt give new pads? . . uh, . . sir, that's additional 200 fer pads, dope!
On a side note, I think they may have revised the pad clips slightly cuz so many complained about this common prob. So that will be changed w/ a brake job anyway, or, you may already have the revised pads on there, & they're just selling you some air.
Either way . . there is no stock avail fix

Hmm, thanks for your inputs fellas. What kind of aftermarket rotors/pads/clips would you suggest getting to get rid of the noise? Any common brand you guys are familiar w/?

That would be a big stop forward. yum
But you dont need BBK to cansel the noise.
Rotors & pads should do the trick. Others had success

Start with some aftermarket brake pads, but just get them when it is time to get new pads anyway.

If that doesn't work, when it is time to replace your rotors look for stock sized aftermarket rotors.

I have my OEM front brakes sitting in my garage - find out exactly what part numbers they want to install and we'll pull up the maintenance manual right here in this thread and see what these guys are trying to do. If I have the part you need, it's yours. Good thing you live in Houston!

Appreciate that Jumbo! I'll let you know what the deal is, but I'm definitely not paying them $400 after they showed me what the hardware kit actually is.. fukin' thieves...

that a boy!
Wasny your car in the shop? What did you tell them before you pulled out, & their response? Did they tell you what was included in the 400? I'm curious if they were selling new brakes to you

Nah, they weren't selling me brakes. $400 was only for the install of the hardware kit, which was a bunch of plates.

Fucking good for nothing crooks. Never taking my car to Sewell Infiniti ever again. Fuckers.

you mean some stupid shims to get rid of the clicking that sucks. good pads will eliminate the squeel and that is just metal to metal from the brakes and the piston from the caliper.
