How do I remove the shift knob?

I want to carbon wrap my console and I am having trouble removing the shift knob. I would rather remove it than install it in place. Any suggestions?:eek.:

Push down on the ring on top of the shift boot. It should slide down.
Next there is a clip at the bottom of the shift knob. It was under that ring you pulled down. Pull that clip off.
The shift knob should then pull off.

I'm going to check it out... I have a 2003 FX is it the same as your 2nd gen?

Nevermind... That was so easy that my self esteem now lacks because I asked.
