I am amazed how much stuff a little 8 month old needs while traveling.

Wife keeps pushing for a 3rd row seat, so we're going this weekend to test drive the QX56...:eek.:

I guess the FX45 is in high demand, I keep getting letters from my local Nissan and Infiniti dealerships (I get it serviced at both) that they want to offer me "top" dollars for my FX45 as it is in "high demand".

Not sure if that means $100 over trade-in value or if they're willing to pay private-party value... (I highly doubt the latter).

They just want you in the dealership so the can sell you another car.... those letters are just a marketing strategy..

Im going to be in your situation soon. hopefully I wont have to sell me FX. why dont you buy a Odyssey:sluggish: and be done.

My cousin drives a G35 coupe and they ended up with a Honda Odyssey -- they said the were almost regretting it until they realized it was more practical and cheaper. Primarily they were sold on the auto doors, rear hatch.

I told myself I'd rather suffer and drive an Infiniti=)

Buuuuuttt....if you are indeed going to trade. Would you want to part with that Prodrive/Custom grill?
I know I am scavenging already lol

My daughter is now 16 months(man time flies)....and we have been debating trading in the FX too...It is just impractical trying to carry the playpen, stroller, pampers....right there the back end is almost full.....AND you still have two bags for the babies toys and clothing...AND somehow you still have to smash you and you wifey's clothing in the back...usually bags end up on the floor board under my daughters car seat, and the back window is half way blocked(I can't stand that). And that's only for a weekend trip...good luck if you have to go for a week...this car can't really handle it.

Also, I can't stand how we have to push the seat forward quite-a-bit in order to get the child seat to fit in the car. I'm 5'11" and there is no way I can sit in the passenger seat for ANY period of time with the child seat behind me. Luckily, my wife is short so she doesn't mind. At least my daughter can almost go to the forward facing seat now (she's very petite)

Honda Odyssey FTW!

I agree, the only other thing I was thinking of was getting a tow-hitch storage carrier or a roof mounted carrier -- but my wife isn't tall enough to use it so that kind of defeats the purpose. And the tow-hitch carrier adds unwanted length to the car...

Who knew a pack and play and a regular stroller = entire rear cargo space.

Hahah, I have 100% of my OEM stuff. I am a hoarder if that answers your question.

+1 the back facing carseats take up soooo much room

LOL! Sweet which means you are going back to stock if you trade. I'm just making sure that I'm #1 in line for that grill hahahahahaha.

I liked the roofbox/hitch idea, but like you said it doesn't really solve the problems efficeintly. QX is nice and if I remember correctly you already know to get the latest year model possible. Infiniti has nothing else with 3 rows. Only other option is an Escalade, Toyota Sequoia Limited, Armada, other GM prodcuts, and on a slightly smaller scale Audi Q7, Mercedes Benz GL, Land/Range Rovers with 7 passenger seating, E70 X5, Volvo XC and Toyota Highlander (newest model). However some of the latter are much smaller than the QX.

I would drive a few and see, specifically the QX vs Escalade and possibly that sweet Q7.

I was looking at the all new Sienna SE for my kids "accessories". SE looks nice but thats about it... nice looking. It doesn't even have a bluetooth nor aux input (must pay premium for these). While on the LE (lower model then SE) these comes standard.
And in my opinion, no matter how sporty you dress a Sienna, it's still a mini-van.
I went with the LE for the family and kept the FX for ME! Everyone's happy.

As a kid who grew up in a LX450 then a new gen Sienna, i prefer the LX over the van anyday.

Sienna is nice and all, tv, comfy, quiet, etc, but the LX450 had the cool factor.

Another thing about the Sienna - Automatic doors broke after warranty, trunk still works but won't last much longer. Doors cost an arm and leg to fix! It has only 100,xxx miles but seriously trashed.

the awd on that thing is amazing though, we take it skiing in rugged mountains a lot and it has yet to get stuck (all season tires too!).

the lx is on a level above all else. -bows-

WTH!? Seriously? Keep in mind that the need for strollers, pack n' plays and all the big gear is temporary (although when you are in the zone it feels permanent)....Our MDX/FX combination works very well. Bigger trips MDX, day trips FX. My little girls love the FX for immediate family trips and for nights out with the little woman it's great. Ed, don't do it man.....

join my club!!! no need to sell the fx. family and i got a used nissan quest for under 10k. i recommend it over bigger suvs esp if you have younger and older folks .

I had no problems with car seats in the FX with my son and it was behind the drivers seat most of the time. I don't know what you guys pack but the FX has enough room IMO :tongue (2):. After a year or two you will regret not having the FX Ed, unless you but a sports car after the QX . My brother has the QX56 and I'd still rather have the FX any day. But have to admit on loooooooong drives a comfortable comfy SUV is the way to go.
