Break in question

Did any of you guys do an oil change after the so called "break-in" period?
I'm getting close to the 1K mark and was wondering if this is necessary.

yes, it is better to change the oil after a 1k break in period. keep an eye on how dirty the oil is to help you decide how early you will need another oil change. it helps to change your oil twice within a short interval then go with the normal maintenance routine. as Fire said, switch to synthetic oil on your third time.

I changed mine after 3000 miles.
I ran regular dino in mine until 12,000 miles and switched to synthetic oil then.

Yep I run at least 7500 miles on dino oil before switching on all my new vehicles. I read that 5000 miles is the minimum to switch from dino to full synthetic. There is a lot of conflicting information out there, like Mobil Oil saids you can use Mobil 1 right away, but Mobil 1 isn't even a fully synthetic oil...lol. Then again some motors come factory fill with synthetics, so they are good to go...

cool. now are the FXs' running on pure dino oil or a synthetic blend? the dealer told me it was the blend. Probably doesn't matter as much, but i want to stick to whats currently in the engine when i do the 1K change.

I believe it's a blend. At least that's what my local stealer told me.
