i noticed this noise today while driving with my windows down and took a quick vid of it. looks like the dust shield is rubbing somewhere, not sure. notice how the noise disappears when the car accelerates. wondering if someone else has this thing going on. Can anyone tell me exactly what it is? any input is appreciated. thanks.

There must be something with the breaks. I had the same problem on both wheels when I had an Audi A6. I remember that after a while it was gone. Have you left it parked outside for a while?

car is parked outside when i am at work, 10 hours, 6 days. but it's a garage queen at my house.

Are you tapping the brakes as your rolling?

no i am not tapping the brakes at all.
the only similar reference i found was on a datsun forum where they discovered a bad universal ball joint but i don't know if i can relate the same problem here.

Sounds like one of those sensors that hit the rotor when the brake pads are low. If it was a balljoint, it would be more of a knocking sound. Best bet is to jack the car up and put a pry bar underneath the wheel and pull and dosn to see if there is allot of play. If so ball joint. If not pull the wheel off and inspect your rotor shield and brake pads.

I have a 2005 FX35 AWD and I brought it to the mechanic today with the same problem. We've managed to solve the issue by changing the rear brake pads. The sound comes from the rust build up in the calipers due to the amount of salt this government pours down every winter. Once you press the brake pedals the brake pads tends to get stuck and scrapes along the rotors. Hope this helps good luck.

i didn't know all this but i did have the calipers loosened and also checked everything before i put the parts back on. the noise went away shortly after that.
