Alright, here's the issue. Both my rear ones are out and not reporting the pressure. I am suspecting it's the batteries. Are these TPMS Sensor batteries replaceable or do I ahve to replace the entire unit?

New set sounds expensive from the stealership.

The batteries are non replaceable Li-ion units. You can purchase used on ebay, new on ebay, or try one of those aftermarket outfits like tire-sensors.com. Mine have not failed so I have not had to replace them.

So far from what I've seen ebay seems like a good bet to get OEM ones new at a reduced cost, but you'll have to have it reset/initialize the system with the CONSUL II computer from the dealer after having a tire shop install the new ones.

Most of us who switched to aftermarket rims that cannot accept the TPMS sensor for one reason or another just run without them.

once you're driven about 35 miles straight, the tire pressure warning light comes on and stays on till you restart the car. i drive less then 20 miles a day so mine's never on. it's also doesn't effect the inspection procedure as i have passed it with the lights being on.

Does any lights pop up if one rans without the tpms?

Does anyone know officially if the TPMS system can be turned off completely? Now that I'm running my summer wheels, the light went on and will not go off and I have no sensors. I went to Discount Tire yesterday and they said there's no way to shut it off with newer cars in general like 2006+. I think my OEM 20" winter tires had them but they never registered on the display, which is fine, I don't use the system. I haven't stopped at the dealer yet to see what they can do, but will soon.

You can always just give me your wheels and tires Andrew, my winter tires have sensors in them. You can have them for your 22's=)

Why not just buy the sensors from Discount Tires? I think they are like $13 a piece or something like that. If you go to the website and go through the process of purchasing new tires, before you actually buy it, you can see the cost. On that page where the cost is, they list the TPMS cost per unit.

There hasn't been an official way to disable this posted. Us g35 guys have figured out how to program them ourselves. We also found a nice after market sensor with the right freq. They have been working for people about 6 months now. But no one figured how to turn them off. I had a consult 2 in my hands last year to do +2 timing but never found options to turn off tpms

You can always pull the bulb/led if it really bothers you.

Yes, it may come down to that someday when I'm really bored.

Ha, take a number Ed.

I think DT said they were about $60 a piece, plus a charge to dismount and remount the tires and i'm looking at like $85+ a tire, no thanks. I'm going to stop at the dealer and talk to the service advisor that I'm friendly with. Maybe he can suggest or hook me up somehow.

I just had 4 new installed at Discount Tire @ $40 each (with new Yoko's) and the dealer programed them for $25.00. All good.

Mine just started coming on now too. One rear TPMS is no longer connecting and my light turns on right away when I turn my car on...BTW, I checked the DT website and you guys are all correct. The price of $8.25 per tire they show on their website is only for a rebuild kit which consist of only the tip of the valve. haha!

So ... how can we set them ourselves? I assume a lot of guys that run winters would use the sensors on both sets if they could reprogram them themselves each time.
