Hi,

Does anyone know where the best place in NYC to cut rotors would be? I'm getting some slight vibrations while breaking now in the front and the stealership suggested cutting the rotors. Does anyone know a place that is reasonable and does good work for cutting rotors? Thanks so much.

My opinion is if you are going to pay someone labor to remove the rotors and re-install, that you should just buy new rotors online and have those installed. It only cost like $25/rotor to cut them at like pep boys or some local mechanic, but the bulk of the cost is the removal/installation of rotors. Some shops have one that you don't have to remove the rotor, which might lead to some cost savings.

My friend went to the dealership to get his rotors cut and wow, he could have bought Stop tech cut and slotted + pads + install for the price he paid.

Thanks everyone for the input, now the question what brand of rotors and pads should I get. Theres so many options out there, what are some of the setups u guys have that you're very satisfied with? I have a 2006 fx35 so i think the setup was changed for the 06+ models correct? This is the first time I'm buying rotors and pads for my fx and any advice/suggestions will greatly help. Thank you very much.

bro go on ebay and do a search for rotor for a 2006 FX35.. tons of items will come up..

Just did, but most of the ones on there seem to be generic brands claiming to have OEM performance. What are some upgrades to oem rotors and pads available that are worth considering? I guess what im looking for is slightly better performance and longevity over the oem ones. Thanks

Centric rotor is a great rotor, and your basic good name brand OEM replacement:

Akebono is the brake pad I suggest. If you like OEM pads, stick with OEM. I used Akebono when I had OEM calipers.

Great thanks for your advice. Would centric rotors and akebono pads be a good setup? I was looking at the stoptech ones and ebc as well, any thoughts on those besides price differences? Thanks

stoptech rotors very good set up with bendix ceramic pads that the set up i have very happy with it don't forget to bleed the system:wink:

I being using green stuff pads(EBC) on drilled slotted rotors and the performance is really good!! A bit dusty tho.. But heck all pads are dusty.. I haven't tried akebonos pad.. Ill probably try them next to see if I like them.

Great, Thanks everyone for your help. I am considering the stoptech rotors with ebc green stuff pads. Any noise issues with aftermarket setups? I know my stock rotors and pads squeak quite loud and I just switched out the pads too. Thanks again.

No squeeking sound for me..

The only sound is the turbine sound like the slotted rotors make. Which I like..
