I noticed that when I was in the car today my passenger side airbag off light wasn't illuminating that the airbag light was deactivated since no one was sitting in the passenger seat. It also wouldn't sense when someone was sitting in the seat. Now my airbag light is flashing and the passenger side airbag off light is illuminated as well. None of the lights will go off. I could reset it, but I'm not cause it sounds like there is a problem.

I was wondering if any 2nd gen owners know of a bulletin or recall on it? I could of sworn a few other people were having the problem. I'm going to the dealer on monday to find out.

I had similar thing. First dealer said it is okay and blah blah. Then i pushed dealer and he reprogrammed it. Never came back.

your air bags aren't functioning, something to do with the controller perhaps, can't think of anyone else but the dealership who would be able to fix this for you, at no charge I'd say...

Ok so I went out this morning to see what the problem was. I put it into diagnostic mode and instead of flashing me the code at the end the light cleared. This means there was no real problem and there was false code. If instead of throwing a code it clears itself, that means there was a false code and it erases it.

But my seat occupant sensor for the airbag is still acting up right now. I'm just going to drive it today and take it to the dealer in the morning. It either has to be a software glitch like what happened to Sobi6111 ^^, or either I need a new seat cushion cause it seems like it doesn't sense when there is an occupant in the seat or isn't one in the seat.

There was this same issue on the G37. What the dealer did for the G was replace the cushion and that solved the problem.

Hey Sobi6111, you said they reprogrammed the software right? Did they just reset it or did they update it? Also was the passenger side seat occupant sensor acting up?

Guys I have a question regarding that passenger light!

when my passenger moves or jumps in front chair the light above rear mirror (air bag yellow light) lights up and then goes off... Do you know the reason for that?

the passenger side air bags sensor activates the air bags when weight is placed upon the seat. off when no passenger, i think the required weight is 60 lbs. your sensors are following the movenments and turning the light on and off accordingly.

Ok so I went to the dealer early this morning and explained what happened. The dealer told me in our 2nd gen fx's the passenger seat airbag occupancy sensor light shouldn't be on. He said it only comes on when someone isn't sitting in the seat properly. This is to let you know the the passenger side airbag is deactivated cause the person is not sitting in the seat the right way. He printed out a page from the SRS section of the service manual to prove it, plus he showed me some other Infiniti's and their all like that.

As for the airbag light flashing, he said it's cause I kept making the passenger airbag off occupancy light go on and off when I tried to see if it was functioning hehehe. He said it caused it to throw a false error. They hooked up the consult 3 to confirm this.

Anyways everything is okay! I got into a heart attack for nothing. Next time I'll RTFM!! Hahaha

I got same thing today. They call it okay. Even person sitting stil lflashes red on dash and constant yellow on the CD player :-(

Any ideaS?

The dealer said the airbag off light is never suppose to illuminate unless someone is sitting in the seat the wrong way and weighs less than 80 pounds. He printed a section of the service manual out for me to prove what he was saying.

As for my airbag light flashing on the dash, it was cause I kept making the passenger airbag light go on and off which caused it to see an error lol, it was my fault hahal, all they did was reset it and everything was good.

1)Do you know if i disconnect battery will it reset airbag error?
2)Or will it go away by itself after a while?
3)Do you know they have diagnostics mode on the NAV,so can i reset i there?

Yes, it works for for the 2009-2011 models. Actually it works on all current Infiniti's and Nissan's.

Worked like charm :-)

But 09+ fx35 aibag sensor even goes "off" even if something light on seat, like 1lbs bag or etc. Annoying

Well thats the way it's designed. You wouldn't want the airbag to deploy when something light like a bag or something is in the seat. Why do you think little kids shouldn't be sitting up in the front passenger seat? The impact of the airbag could seriously injure them in the event of a crash. That's why things that are 80 pounds or less they cause the airbag off light to illuminate.

Thanks to FireOnic3

I to, had the air bag light problem. When I first saw your instructions to reset the airbag light I thought it was a joke until I tried it. IT WORKED, UNBELIEVABLE! Thanks so much it saved me a long ride to an Infiniti dealer.
