Anyone have the Uprev Cipher tool to do the +2 timing advance? I'm willing to drive to you and help with any mods or just pay some cash. Let me know. Thanks.

My Infiniti dealer said about $125 and something about this and that can go wrong so it seemed like he didn't want to do it for me. Does nissan or local mechanic shops have it?

I thought you use a Consult machine to do this?

You can use a consult - which is what the dealers use. 9/10 times the dealers have no idea what they are talking about when it comes to aftermarket mods. They don't want to mess with the ECU because if they mess it up somehow, it is an expensive mistake for them.

Out in the tuner world, you use the UpRev Osiris cable, which is just an OBDII connector that runs to a USB connector. You can download the software for free from UpRev's site onto any laptop, plug in the Osiris cable and have access to the timing mod and a couple other items.

A little less than two years ago, one of the members here on IS was kind enough to ship his UpRev cable around the country - for anybody that wanted to do the +2 mod. That's when the majority of the members here did that mod, myself included.

If you do the +2 mod, you can run ONLY premium gas in your car 91 Octane or better.

Now that I have said all that, let me say this. IMO the +2 mod isn't worth it for the FX35 crowd, but it seems to have noticeable benefit (reported) for the FX45 crowd. My advice to any FX35 thinking about this mod is to wait and get a dyno tune instead - after you have finished doing your bolt-on performance mods. Getting a tune done will over-write the +2 mod, so if there is a chance for a dyno tune in your future, just wait.

Jumbo, thanks for the clarification and opinion on the +2 mod. I was debating on that mod for along time. So far I got the Crawford Plenum, Stillen CAI and Nividia Gemini exhaust mods for the engine. Unorthodox Underdrive/Stock Size Pulley set will be installed soon and then a dyno tune. Is that about all the bolt-on engine mods?

Sorry to pull this thread off topic like this. +2 mod is still good for the FX45 guys!!!

Pulley set - nice.

Increasing thermal efficiency of your exhaust could help - use a heat wrap or ceramic coating on the exhaust manifold. This won't really impact the tune so much, but keeps heat where you want it for efficiency.

About the only other thing I could think of would be High Flow Cats or test pipes, but IMO there's not enough benefit there to make the cost worth it. I think you have done just about all you can with your list.

That Dyno tune is key though. Go someplace that has experience with the VQ. Doing the tune is like getting a new FX, in a good way. If you like the way your mods feel now, you'll love the whole package after a tune.

that was me too bad logan still has my cable lol.... but as far as the +2 for the 45 i love it..... the dealer should do it for free it literally takes only 5 minutes or less if your engine is already at temp.
