I'm going to go broke on Dyson too. I keep having to buy replacement parts that break. :(

I will get that tire gauge though! :)

You know how there is that one thing that you splurged and paid more for thinking you were getting a better product? Well, the dyson is that thing for me! I am not a fan at all, I mean it sucks, no really it Sucks! Don't waste your money. On another note, they make a car cleaning kit that I use on my shop vac that rocks! Other than that stay away from dyson!

Have you tried calling their customer service? I have heard great things about them. They are supposedly very willing to stand behind their warranty and send out replacement parts if needed.

Dyson does have very nice customer service. I bought the vacuum off the shelf at Bed Bath & Beyond (also has great customer service). BB&B referred me to Dyson website stating they list all replacement parts and offer good service. This was when the plastic attachment clip on the hose collar broke. Even though still under warranty, the hose would not have been covered because "it is a normal wear and tear item." Dyson did graciously replace it for free as a one time courtesy.
Next, a plastic retailer clip on the brushbar assembly broke requiring me to buy a whole head assembly. I really like the Dyson design, but IMO there are too many small parts which allow the chance of breaking. (Since day 1, I've been worried about the cup/canister breaking, but so far so good.) The modular assembly and breakdown is great, but when a little part breaks, the larger assembly needs replaced. In between all these assemblies are rubber gaskets and seals. I wish these were thicker for a better seal each time the unit comes apart and goes back together. Mind you that I breakdown the vacuum and clean the whole thing (including 3 filters) twice a year and Dyson recommends every 3 months. All I'm saying is that just a tiny bit more robust will go a long way.
I really like Dyson products. I will buy their hot/cold bladeless fan next, and I really wish I could get an Air Blade in my house or garage. My next vacuum cleaner will likely be an Electrolux.

I'm not saying they are a total peice of junk, I'm just saying for the extra cash I don't think they are any better than others. I find myself using my shop vac in many cases as it seems the dyson just not have the suction as they claim. Also, as mentioned above there are alot of little parts that break and are Unfortunatly attached or part of larger parts that in return requires the entire peice to be replaced. I'm just saying before I would spend more on one I would research and maybe save some money. For example we also have an oreck vacuum and in my opinion it works much better and is about half the weight as the dyson.

ACTUALLY THE VERY SAID PROBLEMS THAT YOU HAVE RUN INTO IS WHAT I HEARD ABOUT DYSON I.E PARTS BREAKING BUT, THIS WAS WHEN THEY FIRST CAME ON THE SCENE. I DONT OWN A DYSON MYSELF BUT THEY SEEM TO DO AN EXCELLENT JOB IN PICKING UP OR SUCKING UP DIRT IN WHICH THEY SUPPOSE TO DO. i TEST ONE OUT BECAUSE I WAS LOOKING FOR A NEW vACUUM.

I'm a Dyson newbie, I have only had the Dyson DC37 Animal for a few weeks and it has been performing as well as they claim. As far as a shop vac having more suction, I own two shop vacs and this Dyson DC37 out-sucks :eek.: Both of them.
I just hope we don't have the breakage problems like some here have mentioned.

Yakima Snowboard and Ski Rack for factory cross rails

FWIW for those with the factory cross rails, I found a pretty good deal on a 6 ski/4 snowboard rack. I have seen quite a few folks with the Yakima Fatcat 6 Ski and Snowboard Carrier, mainly due to the more aerodynamic and low-profile design. If prepping for a trip this year, there is a sale on this rack at afterschool.com:

Free shipping included. Mine came out to just over $125, good price for the start of the season.

You can save an additional $15 with this promo code for the next 10 days:

i had the fat cats. they are great but it has clearance issues wen you stack 2 boards on top of each other. the bindings will touch the top of your fx if you use factory rails. it slightly touches with the thule square bar

Yeah, I have a feeling the Yakima will have the bindings touch the roof of the FX as well due to the low profile...but I keep a toolkit with my gear and it's pretty easy to take off the bindings. I really did not want a big bulky carrier that sat up too high. For ~$125 I couldn't really complain. It's usually just my son and I going boarding anyways, not a big deal w/ 2 boards.

??

The racks have a feature that angles up on one side to allow for exactly this scenario. I have a had four snowboards on my rack and with it angled up I had no problems with it touching my roof.
