legal speed + high headwind speed windshield whistle

So I took my FX35 to vegas last month and while it was very comfortable I did notice some whistling noise coming from the front windshield. *With wind speed, the windshield was probably subjected to approximately 80-90+ mph of wind(it was very very windy).
I'm wondering if anyone on this forum has noticed this.

My gf's solara had the same problem where we'd press on the windshield from the inside out and the whistling would go away. After we replaced the windshield(cracked), the noise went away. I'm guessing it was the seals on the solara.

This is ridiculous on a 16k mile new vehicle of this class. I'm hoping to take it into the dealer when i get some time off.

Anyone else notice this?

On a side note: I think the 2nd gen FX's are a very lucky car to take to vegas:rolleyes:.

Nope never ever heard of this at all on any 2nd gen FX.

With 80-90+ miles of a windstorm and driving on the highway??? Your definately bound to hear some type of wind noise no matter what car your driving. It's probably not even coming in through the windshield either, it just sounds like it is. It's probably coming in through the door sills where the rubber meets the A pillar's close to the windshield, which is normal cause not all wind noise can be blocked out especially on highway speeds with wind blowing 90+ miles per hour, that just's crazy!.

If you had wind coming in through the windshield that means the windshield would have to not be sealed off right which in other words you would have water finding it's way in during heavy rain which you don't.

As for your quote, "This is ridiculous on a 16k mile new vehicle of this class". It doesn't matter what car you buy. A car is car still no matter what. It's going to have a problem eventually no matter how much money you spend or what brand it's made by. Even $100K Mercedes Benz S550 brand new is going to give you problems. You spend $100K and yes it still will have a problem. That's why there is Technical Service Bulletin's (TSB) and recalls released, cause not all cars are perfect. Their built by human's and robotic arms, ofcoarse it will have some kind of imperfection or human error. Just saying bro =]

I see what you're saying. Btw, it was me doing 70mph and wind approaching maybe 20-25mph headwind. I'm not going to say I was going 85+mph on certain open stretches (this IS the internet). I accounted for the wind noise coming in the door seals but this was a different sound, kinda like exhaust drone but higher pitch if that makes sense. I could overlook it, but it sucks when your passengers start noticing it on your *new car.

Thanks for bringing up the A/B-pillar noise, now i got something else to be MAD at...j/p
Even though I had 16k on the odo this was the first time I believe the windshield was subjected to this speed so it probably was like this brand new.

I'm just going to see what the dealer says even though it's going to be hard to recreate the noise for them unless they don't mind me hitting high speeds. They keep calling me so I'm guessing they miss me.

You mean the FX is not perfect?!:eek.:

I don't mean the A/B pillar is making a noise lol. I mean where the door meets the A pillar where those rubber seals are at when you have the door open, maybe a little wind is coming in through there instead of the windshield. I'm not sure though lol.

And yea the FX is not perfect lol. No car is perfect. There will always be one thing you don't like about the car. It happens to everyone.

Don't let it make you nuts. I noticed that whistling sound also and so did others with the second generation. Some of us have noticed that the outside mirrors have something to do wih this noise. Try folding the mirrors in when the noise is present and notice if it stops.

Yeah, I was gonna say the same thing about the mirrors.

The cross bars (between the roof rails) have been noted as being noisy at high speed on the 1st gen FXs. Do you by chance have those installed on yours?
