should I do 3 qts or 10 qts?

I'm going to change the tranny fluid on my FX with 42k miles.
I found some threads about it. but I still have a question in my mind.
is it really necessary to replace the total 10 qts fluid to the tranny? my guys used to tell me just unplug it whatever come out then put whatever qts back in..
then how many qts dirty oil will come out from the tranny? how many qts I should prepare?

I found a deal from g35parts.com they selling the matic S fluid for $8.12 qt. is it a good price?

anyone give me some ideas..

I'm almost positive when I did mine, I bought 8qrts. I only used 5... I still have 3 bottles sitting in my garage.

Thanks, I will order 10 qts later on, so it should good for two times at least..

there is only matic S in market now, right?
 
I just replaced my transmission fluid. yes, there is only S now because they replaced them with the J. What I did for my tranny is just drain and fill so I only need about 3.7 quarts.
