Rear Bumper Light Install-KM Garage(option #6)

haha, wwtd... that's funny... I wouldn't want to see any gaps or miss aligned edges or ill fitting parts so that wouldn't work for me as-is on my fx, BUT it really doesn't look so bad either I guess, don't want to hate on it, if you like it it's all good... probably much easier alternative than the amount of work it would take to get that functionality while also looking perfect...

Dude that looks awesome. I used to be the DIY type until I lost my tools, garage, and house to the hurricane lol.

Awesome job!

Come on over and use mine! Just bring some beer and we'll call it even.

I like the utility of this mod and somebody who doesn't know FXs would never know they are not OEM.

It is strange to me that there is not any kind of seal around the lights though. Having a weatherproof seal that bridges the gap between the bumper, reflector and light would make it look seamless.

WWTD? I think he would make a custom seal that fills in all the gaps and looks OEM. Get out that RTV and make some molds!!!

Great write up and nice unique feature added to your FX.

honestly what comes to mind would be, instead of completely hacking off the inner part of the reflector as a whole, instead cut the same section off, BUT only on the outer face of the lens, leaving the frame of the whole reflector, of course also gutted to fit the light in from behind, then graft a flat clear plexi lens for the part of the reflector lens that was removed, sealed to the surrounding frame that was left in the first step, then all it may need is to be tinted a bit, or blackout edged, something along those lines, wouldn't be too difficult really & would look flush with no gaps or anything...

I have the OE reflectors still I may try and cut them to fit around the lights but just not sure if I want to spend the time and effort on it. You can see the round to square opening on my close up shot but if you are standing behind looking at them you don't even notice it and most people would think they are OE.
BTW I have forwarded the link to this thread to KM Garage so maybe they will see all your input on this MOD and come up with some changes.

the devil is in the details, may not bother some at all, I wouldn't have much of a problem seeing something like this on lets say my minivan just the way it is, but the fx is different, that's my baby :)

just mean that everyones got a different tolerance level depending on how they feel about there particular vehicle... that may have sounded worse than intended without realizing that my minivan is a highly customized ride too, not meant to be as bad as it sounded :)

The first time I saw them in the site I thought they were a 1 piece replacement part and thought they looked cool .

It looks to me that they changed the shape of the lights form the website to the ones in production?

The website's corners looks a lot more square....MTN's corner's are alot more rounded. Or is it just the angle they took the pics from? I like the website's lights more, looks like it fills in the holes better...I don't know, I have to see them in person....

Hopefully MTN and I are able to meet up tomorrow in Big Bear. I'l be up for the weekend.
