2011 Infiniti FX

The powerful Infiniti FX, Infiniti's iconic performance crossover, enters the 2011 model year with a few important enhancements -- including standard power rear liftgate (late availability) and one new exterior color. FX is again available with a choice of a 390-horsepower 5.0-liter 32-valve DOHC V8 engine with VVEL (Variable Valve Event & Lift) or with a 303-horsepower 3.5-liter 24-valve DOHC V6. Both engines are paired with a standard 7-speed automatic transmission featuring Adaptive Shift Control (ASC) and available solid magnesium paddle shifters.

The FX is also offered with available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (standard on FX50), double-wishbone front/multi-link rear suspension and large 4-wheel disc brakes, along with available Continuous Damping Control (CDC)®, Rear Active Steer, Intelligent Brake Assist and 6-spoke 21-inch super lightweight aluminum-alloy wheels (FX50 Deluxe Touring Package).

Inside, the FX interior provides a warm, modern, inviting environment highlighted by a driver-oriented cockpit with intuitive controls, available sport seating and advanced audio, navigation and technology ranging from an 11-speaker Bose-developed audio system to Infiniti Intelligent Key, available Intelligent Cruise Control (Full-Speed Range) and available Around View Monitor system.

The Infiniti Hard Drive Navigation System includes an 8-inch color touch-screen display, Lane Guidance and 3-D building graphics. For 2011, a new black lacquer interior trim is standard on FX50.

The 2011 FX is available in three models: FX50 AWD with 5.0-liter V8, FX35 AWD with 3.5-liter V6 and FX35 RWD with 3.5-liter V6.

The 2011 Infiniti FX goes on sale in October 2010.

Changes for 2011 include:

  • Power rear liftgate added as standard equipment (late availability)
  • 5-spoke 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with P265/50R20 V-rated all-season tires standard on FX50, replacing previous 21-inch wheels and tires (20-inch wheels and tires also optionally available on FX35)
  • Black lacquer interior trim standard on FX50 (replaces previous Maple interior accents)
  • Navigation Package contents added to Premium Package on FX35
  • New Deluxe Touring Package available for FX50 (includes Maple interior accents, aluminum pedals and 21-inch wheels and tires)
  • One new exterior color: Malbec Black (late availability)

Where's the FX56 and FX37?? The M's, G's, Z's, get a 37 and they keep giving us the 35.

Also, no more 21's... (edit: just reread, comes with the deluxe touring package).

The Lexus has the power lift gate, I am glad I did not wait till October to buy for the lift gate seriously. Thats all they could come up with.

Wow! I guess they realized they were giving too much away on the previous year's FX models! I prefer having the standard 21 inch rims, and maple wood interior than the power tail gate! Now I know I really got my money's worth...

Yea i also don't think they will bring in the 37 until the next revision.

Pretty crappy update if you ask me. Take away alot of the standard fx50 stuff that made it classy and added a power life gate which if you ask me i rather have a regular lock. I'm sure most people are strong enough to close the rear hatch with their own hands. Now there is one more thing to break.

I'm curious about the new color though. How will it differ from OB?

I still say they should do a limited run (of maybe like 100), and just take everything under the hood of a GT-R and drop it into a FX and call "FX-R tuned by Nismo"

I wonder if you can do a swapp and install the power liftgate myself on ones equipped without it.

are 21" wheels optional or are they discontinuing? if fx50 has 20" alloys, guess these will clear the akebono bbks or will the fx50 not even have akenbonos as std equipment?

The new M has this color, along with OB Black. I can't tell the difference but it is on the Infiniti USA web site if you look for it under the M.

The Malbec black has tints of red/wine it seems like. Malbec is a type of grape, so it's gotta be some reddish black color. Which is MEH to me.

I wish the power rear gate was standard on my 2010 FX. I find the FX rear gate heavy and high. My brother's EX35's rear gate is much lighter and easier to close. And I thought the FX's rear gate was fiberglass or something. :mad.:

so its kind of like dark brown? :err: would be interesting if we can retrofit the power lift gate. Well I prefer non of the fancy stuff but i guess fx does have heavy gate. I'm just no very satisfied with infinit's have ass effort prior to 2011... i mean why have the assist close? If i can get the gate 80% close i can close it the rest of the way. Either have full power assist or just not have any. I find myself having to be really carefuly when i close it, it seems it would be hard to replace and expensive to replace if i break it. Not to mention I have to tell other people to shut it gently, most people would just slam it shut

oh and europeans seems to get more choices from all manufactures. Even ford an american company offer most choice and more performance option in europe. Sad really I would so go for a fx37 and one of those european only focus trim

just click around the europe infiniti site are we able to get the dog guards in their accesory section? look real useful

And then when you go to close other people's lift gates softly they don't close all the way. :mad.:
