Hey guys,

Do you know if there is a difference in the type of oil they use when doing an oil change? Im referring to the regular oil not the synthetic ones, Im not even sure if dealerships offer synthetic oil changes. Thanks

Regular mineral oil, whatever is in the books, typically 5w-30. I've seen some dealerships use whatever is off the shelf.

Nissan stealership here in Round Rock uses Valvoline motor oil. don't know about Infiniti, never been there. You should be good as long as you have the right amount of 5W30 (or 10W30) on the engine. Nissan doesn't crap out on oil in comparison to Infiniti, that's fairly certain.

I mean is there a "nissan/infiniti" brand of oil that all of them use? The oil filter is most definately nissan filters but I was just curious of the oil since the oil is not labeled as anything.

I know for sure that the dealership uses an oil with ESTHER in it for the FX50 and FX50S models. This is something I read about, that FX50 models require as the esther prevents squeaking in the engine belt and other parts. I pay an ARM AND A LEG for that freaking oil change!! Can anyone confirm this for the FX50 models please?

Is it safe to assume u only get your oil changes from nissan instead of infiniti? Is it bad to start using regular oil once synthetic oil has been used? The previous owner before me started using penzoil synthetic oil the last couple of oil changes so I was wondering if I would need to continue using synthetic or is regular oil fine. I always change my oil either every 2500 miles or 3 months. Thanks

Use Mobil 1. Using ester oil has to do with the coating on the lifters. They have a patented diamond-like carbon coating (DLC) on the valve lifters. If you don't use ester oil, it can create a "chatter" sound.

I noticed that when i was in Lithuania the Nissan dealer uses Valvoline oil.
So i stick to that, it's a good oil and i don't want to keep changing oilbrands all the time.
I am using Valvoline 5W40 SYN Power. (full synthectic for high perfomance engines)
