Hey guys,

For those that have either an optima or factory battery, whats the longest time you have left the car without starting it and not have the battery completely die. I have an optima yellow top and the amp hours is rated at 48AH while our factory battery is rated at 52AH, but the CCA for the optima is 620 compared to the factory which is rated at 582. What exactly is the AH rating use? Reason for me asking is Im planning a trip and wont be driving the car for at least 2-3 weeks and was wondering if the battery would be dead by the time I came back. Thanks

Today was the first time i started the fx after I swapped out the factory battery for the yellow top optima and during the first startup the engine started up but was hesitating, it didnt die but it just seem like there wasnt enough power. I have read that once u change your battery the ecu needs to relearn the idle process therefore will hesitate during the first initial startup after a battery swap. Did you have the problem after u swapped in your red top?

On a side note, I notice u have tints on your front driver and passenger windows and your also from brooklyn, do u get harrassed by cops often for your tints? I would like to get the fronts tinted also but dont want the hassle of them. I have a blk FX35 so tinting the fronts would make my car look much darker than yours since yours is white. Thanks

Yea i would go either 15 or 20% tints on the your fx. I went 5% because my interior is tan and doesn't make the tints look so dark. As for the battery. When i swapped it out, my fx started right up normal and had the normal idle. No hesitation at all. Car actually felt like it started up stronger with the new optima battery.

Never delayed usage on my FX, but many other cars of mine have gone 2-3+ months without startup and been okay. Unless your battery is in poor condition, you should be fine.

I have had the yellow top D35 installed for several months now and it's been great. The longest I have let the FX sit without starting it was 10 days and had no trouble after. I also did not experience the starting issues you noted upon installation.

Would u know if u are able to go 3 weeks without starting the car and not have a problem? My fx seems to be fine now, i think the battery was just low since I had it in another car and didnt drive it for a few weeks. Thanks for your input

That explains it all. You installed a optima battery that was sitting around for a few months in a car. Who knows what could have been running in the other car for a few months. (ex. alarm) Battery became a little weak and your fx hesitated a little on start up. Now after driving around, you charged up the battery and it starts fine now.

I read somewhere on this forum that the ecu needs to be connected to a power source at all times while changing a battery and if its not then the car would stall every now and then, even on a warm startup. Im glad that wasnt the case as the car starts up fine now. Thanks for your help
