JDM Puddle Lights - DIY

thanks for taking the time to post all this man!! it was very helpfull. i did mine last week. instead of using the relays i taped the ground straight into the pink with white stripe and ran a hot off the fuse. it dims off and on just the same with the dome lights and a little less work. I'm a new user here, but as soon as i get my first 10 post's, (so they let me put up pics) i'll up load some!! i just LED strips instead of spot lights as well. it gives a solid under glow between the front and back wheels. looks real nice. thanks again for posting this. couldn't have figured out the ground without it!! well done!

This might be the first mod I do with my FX when I get it. I like the idea of stenciling letters onto the light. Instead of Infiniti you could do just F-X-3-5. Only four lights on each side.

Your pictures and detailed instructions are excellent. In fact, I think they're uber cool. I've been really hesitant to do any real customizing because I love my case as it is. But your project has convinced me that its time. I'm ordering the kit today and will be installing this as soon as I get it. Even if I have to use a sick day :).
Thanks!!!

SO I'm new to this site, and I just put a little twist on the puddle lights and want to share pics for everyone. how do i upload pics to this page? Dumb, question most likely....but they turned out great and i'd really like to share, since this thread helped me get them done. any help would be great!! thanks!

here is some pics of my puddle lights using LED strips instead of spots.

here's a couple more. I actually didn't mean to upload the daytime pics. here is a few more though. looks really good in the pitch black of night. I used a "track and sleeve" diffuser with weather/water tight led's. the enclosed the whole thing with a sealant to hold up against road conditions. if i had to do it again, i would have got a "non-transparent" base(bottom) track piece instead of painting the top cover to block the LED's from direct view. but I made it work with what I had. let me know what you all think.

:good: Nice, I like it. I will do this one day. Too many mods to do.

its really not too bad. all and all it took about 1-1.5 hours per side. did it all last saturday afternoon!! i didn't use a relay, i just taped my hot to a hot in the fuse box and my ground to the dome light. not too bad at all. they dim up and down just like the dome light. let me know how yours turn out! good luck.

What type of LED strip did you use?

its a water tight rubber strip. they came in 6" sections, so i had to loop three junctions together. i work in sales at a electrical distribution center so I got them as a "Demo"....from one of my vendors....hahah along with the track to mount them. but you can find the same idea on ebay for pretty cheap. you can look at a company called Elite LED lighting. i believe the website is www.iuseelite.com they have ribbon led's that you can get. there a bit pricey, but that is where i got my track system from. take a look. at the very least you will get an idea of what it is and can probably find something simular to both the lights and the mounting track. if you get serious about it, you can let me know, and i can see what i can do for my cost and have it direct shipped to you. let me know. im new to this site, but i've already gained a ass load of info for DIY mods i want to do, so I'm more than happy to help out and contribute here.

also when you go to that link, click "elite LED" ----ribbon led's-----and if you want to see the exact track i have, once you click "outdoor, and the color" look at the accessories. thats where i got it. ;-)
