HID Fog Lights: 35w vs 55w?

Hey Guys,
I have the ddm 35w 9006 6k HID fogs not so much impressed with lighting, thinking of getting the ddm website apexcone 55w 8k for fogs, Any problems with running 55w? will anything melt...because my fogs will be on every night when i drive.

i remember reading on ddm that they recommend the 35w for smaller housings like our fx's fogs...
 
The older fx's have a lens/cover over the bulb, This makes it not look so bright. The 06-08 fx fogs, infiniti did away with those lesnse/cover over the bulbs and they look much brighter.

Highly recommend you not run 55w 8K fogs. As you suspect, the 35W HID kit for the fogs, the housing gets very hot where it can burn your skin if you touch the glass (yes, learned by mistake...) This is after driving for 3 hours and touching it.

I am not an electronics expert, but we use a small fuse for the fogs too, like 10AMP I believe and the wiring is made for 35W, not sure if it can take 55W. I'm guessing yes, but a strain to battery too you'll probably want to use a wire harness to be safe if you turn on your headlights and fogs at the same time.

Either way, 35W HID kit in a halogen fog light housing is really really bright. It's not focused, so it just spreads light everywhere, so you would get no more "usable" light unless you just want more light right in front of your car.
 
Don't get the 55W, they're insanely bright. I have a set on my prelude and got 4 tickets within a month because of them. They're literally so bright that they will over power your headlights no matter how low you try to angle them.

They are ticketing for that in Houston? Hmmm they need to start doing that in the Clear Lake area, lots of lifted trucks with HIDs here...even I had em in my Titan in the headlights and foglights and annoyed other people lol. Even had someone drive my Titan behind me at night so I could see what it was like and I was driving my Z4. It can be annoying unless you have self dimming mirrors.

Self dimming mirrors FTW!
 
What if you use 55W 7000K bulbs only not HID for the fogs ? There should be no issue using that vs 35w ? I noticed most of the after market bulb like Nokya are 55W only.

It'll still be drawing more power than the wiring harness was designed for, at least that is what was stated above. Running 55W will also run hotter...as stated above.
 
did you turn any screws or bolts on the fog light housing, because that did it, if you did not well there is this bolt or screw u need to turn left or right, dont remember which, but that will fix it

Yep single 10mm bolt behind there lowers or raises the angle of the light, thus adjusting the beam.

Ok "running hotter" but what are the consequences if any ? Can it burn/crack the glass shield if it gets too hot ? Is the only way to get proper match for the stock xenons to install HID conversion kit for the fogs then ?
