Around View Camera Mod

Thank you so much for the guidance, I did this mod on my 2012 FX35 Canadian version. Worked out awesome, you're the best!

Looked into the Wiring of the new FX37/QX70. IT definitely will NOT work. The whole system runs on CAN BUS, its not just one wire anymore.

If i'm thinking correctly, CAN BUS will be easier to mod eventually than messing with wires. You'll have a programmable box on the CAN BUS network that can send commands to control various things. So its just a matter for someone to create that programmable box to interface with the CAN BUS. Tricky but doable.

Yes and no. I've created such boxes for other/similar purposes, but there is a problem that you typically run in to. They are probably reading the general vehicle speed ID which is transmitted repeatedly on the general CAN BUS and read/received by many different systems. You could inject a signal saying the car was doing 4mph (or less), but it would be fighting with the main signal. Assuming the frequency was sufficient to win over the cars real speed signal you would find your speedometer not working correctly and main other speed related systems.

Sometimes you get lucky and the unit (around view camera system in this case) gets it's own signal from the BCM to indicate car is moving. In those cases you can play with that signal without interfering with other systems.

You're definitely correct, I guess we'll have to see how it evolves. I'm going to assume they want less people messing with their systems for safety concerns, but at the same time it will be easier to create systems working off the CAN BUS eliminating the need for so many wires. As with any new tech beginnings will be hard to crack but eventually someone figures it out.

I need to take FX in for Bluetooth issue. Will this mod trigger a diagnostic error?

Just completed the mod took me about 15mins ( mechanic IQ level 2.5 out of 5)
I got frustrated and cut the wire
**no tools needed just a lil muscle to pop open the kick panel and side panel
**electrical tape if you decide to cut the wire

I'm in the middle of replacing my stock pedals with the stainless sport pedals. I had to pull these parts out anyway to swap the dead pedal, so I went ahead and did this mod. Super easy; took all of 10 minutes to do. Tested and works great. Thanks!

I tried this mod on my 2013 FX37 Canadian version, and it did not work. I think the wire might have changed. I'm going to do some digging on electrical diagrams to see.

Edit: nevermind. I got it. You gotta push the tab and pull up hard.

Man, I'm struggling trying to remove this harness. I pushed and pulled the tab and neither works. Any tips? 38d6380eb1350d99201978716bd5eb42.jpg

Also do I need to disconnect the harness to prevent getting a shock?

use a flat head to help open the tab. Yes you do need to disconnect for safety
