Cop is wrong. Well maybe he just put it in a wrong way the fault is on youte driver not the dealership. The dealership doesn't have that responsiblity. Legality of not having front plates varies from state to state or province to province for us canadians. You could be using the car in another state where it is legal. The dealership is not oblige to ask and make sure. On the other hand, you not knowing the law is not a valid legal defence. The law is written in some form and it is imply that you should look up the law if you are in doubt. The police gave you a break. He could be an asshole and just write you up a ticket or worst make you get your car VI. Most exotic ran without front plate not because they don't know the law. It's because they can afford the tickets.
Anyways I hate having front plates. If I'm rich I would do without it. I also hate not being able to tint my front windows. I don't want to get skin cancer!!!!!
