Anyone had this problem with windows?

Hi there,

I tried a search on this subject but I could find no answers.

Ok, had the FX35 in for a general service, tire rotation and check over. The car came back fine and then on Saturday morning my wife noticed that I'd left the front windows down and that it was about to rain. I went to check and the windows were completely down which was strange because although I had them down a few inches, I certainly did not have them both all the way down.

This morning, my wife had driven the FX to work and someone told her she should wind the windows up, it looked like some stormy weather was blowing in. Strange because she had never had the windows down at all!

Just wondering if anyone else with an FX had come across this problem of the two front windows winding themselves all the way down. They were fine before I took the car in for it's service. I called the dealership and they just said bring it back in. Thing is, the dealership is a 60 mile round trip and that's a long way if it's something I could fix myself.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated...

Cheers, Gordon.

Hmmm that is strange for a window to just fall like that. I know the dealership is far but if you feel like you want to the door off and look at the regulator go right ahead. It is definetly a weekend thing though or at least a couple of hours to mess with. Does the window go up n down without a problem.

where do you keep your remote FOB? Although highly unlikely the culprit of your problem, if you hold down the unlock key then the front windows roll down. Maybe something is pinching against it? Once again, i doubt this is the reason but just throwing it out there

good luck!

Thanks guys,

The windows work just fine and I don't think they are slipping down. Something is giving them the signal to wind down. The service manager seemed to think it was a fault with the anti-theft system. Ours is a 2003 model so it has the regular key and remote. He did say that sometimes if there are two remotes in the car at the same time, that can confuse the signals and he also asked if someone might be sat on the remote??

Looks like I'll have to drive up to the dealers and let them sort it out. It's a bummer because everything was fine before the service... That's about three gallons of gas they owe me ...

Thanks again, Gordon.

i have sort of the same problem... check my post... i might need a new motor... $500, i think not... please post the outcome... much appreciated! peace

I had this same problem too. The window is not having a failure of the motor. It's just the pinch limit thing. What you have to do is this procedure to reset it on the 09+ FX only:

1. Go up to the car and push the button on the door to unlock it.

2. Get in the car BUT DON'T CLOSE THE DOOR YET.

3. Push the Start button twice, but don't start the car just make sure the ACC (Accesories) comes on only.

4. Now close the door.

5. Roll the window that's having the problem, roll it down a little past half way but not fully. If you roll it down fully it ruins the whole procedure and you'll have to restart this whole process all over again.

6. Now roll the window back up all the way while holding the switch for 15 seconds AFTER the window has fully went back up. DO NOT LET GO OF THE SWITCH CAUSE YOU'LL HAVE TO RESTART THIS WHOLE PROCEDURE AGAIN!

7. That should have done it. Restart the car and make sure it now works.

Remember to do this from the driver's seat window switches ONLY.

they lubricated with a special lubrication for windows,, they lubricated all my windows in the dealer,, and they work best than ever.. (the ruber was to dry i think it was the sun here in puerto rico lol...)

Normal perhaps

That happened to our 2010 FX over the weekend I looked outside and low and behold the 2 front windows were down. After testing the remote you can lower the windows by holding down the unlock button for a few seconds. I tested a couple of times and I must have held the unlock for some reason it hasn't done it since.

if it were an issue of sitting on the fob, all of the windows would roll down. at least that is how it is on my 05.

strange problem. i would almost think there is a problem in the switches shorting out to do that, but, i can honestly say i've never heard of a problem like this before.

Not quite . . . on the early FX45's all windows go down via the FOB. On the FX35's only the front windows can be lowered via the FOB.

Hey Fire0nic3,

My window just stopped working last night (the auto up feature) out of nowhere! I went through the procedure you explained, and now it works!

Thanks man!

Just out of curiosity, how did you know about this procedure?
