FX50 Cold Air Intake ?

Are there any other cold air intake system out there beside these guys?

Not that I've seen. And I don't trust anyone selling "electric superchargers"; that's just an inline fan blocking airflow.

K&N sells an aftermarket washable airfilter for the Infiniti FX50 that has some benefits of the full air intake system. I haven't tried it out on an Infiniti, but I will once the stock filter needs replacement. The two times I've switched to K&N filters certainly changed the noise, and helped to improve torque on a particularly underpowered & restricted motor.

I have the K&N filters and i like them so far. Couldn't tell much difference in sound or performance but the MPG did improve a little.

You'd be hard pressed to find any after market mods for the FX50 now and probably 3 years from now. Besides you don't need much for the 50!

Cold air intake modifications are generally available for American cars because of the power obsession ;-). The Japanese market loves customization, so we might see them do more for performance.

The K&N filters made a lower and less smooth noise in my installs. On one vehicle I couldn't notice a MPG gain, and I'd have no dyno metric for performance, but it "felt" better (a very reliable and useful benchmark for someone who spent ~80$). The other install included a carburetor change that lowered MPG significantly, but switching the air filters back and forth made an extremely obvious difference for intake noise and performance.

Dyno tests generally show a few HP gain, nothing noticeable. MPG can go up a couple numbers, which is noticable. On a performance cars like Infiniti cars, it's unlikely they are restrictive (I'd have to check). I think air intake is generally underrated, but gains from modifications are generally overrated.

^The only thing for sure that you will no get quoted "Increases performance up to 30 bhp". On 2nd Gen FX the intake system designed really well and works pretty good, aftermarket intakes on 2nd Gen are just for looks and sound(possibly you can loose some HP also)

Ok thanks, that being said I guess, I will be leaving the intake as is for now. I'm certainly not going to make an upgrade that's intended to increase performance if it's not actually going to do that.

You can definitely buy some K&N drop ins. If you want a 5-8hp gain you can get Stillen CAI Kit, but it's very expensive around $500, sounds really good BTW. Stillen claims around 17hp gain on 370Z(close to red line).

^ unfortunately the way our cars are designed the Gs and Zs intakes won't work regardless of what you do...with that said an intake, unless its enclosed in a box to maintain the ram air that nissan designed is most likely going to lose power, the fujita's that i tested were constantly losing power and till this day still does...

But we all love the sound and bling under the hood:)

Lerry...were you working with Odise and Sunny too ???

Has anyone found any cold air intakes for this beast yet? Talked to company R2C Performance and they got all the way to a prototype but it wouldnt fit with the aftermarket strut bar so it's on hold.

Shoot I wish there was one available, id be all over it

IF you really want a CAI just get one made / build one. It is highly unlikely there will be one made available very soon. (although I could be wrong)
Im planning on having a custom one made. however, the factory intake setup is already extremely efficient with ducting straight from the grille - they are essentially already cold air intakes...
