NAV question for 09 FX35

Hi, does anyone know if i can take upgrade the nav software in my 09 FX to the 10 version? I know there is a new disk out, but it seems to only cover locations and not the actual look and functionality. Thanks
 
unfortunately you cant i tried asking my dealer they said that it does not go with the software that the car runs on you'd have to change the whole unit

i asked this question when we had a meet at metro infiniti i think they should make it compatible
 
man thats a bummer. i have a 2010 G37x in addition to my FX and i like the look of the new nav with weather and zagat
 
ya but remember after three months you have to pay about $15 a month to keep those features it goes straight to XM
 
It is ridiculous that it can't be updated to the 2010 version. Honestly. It is a Hard Drive based. There should be NO reason that you can't update it. Frustrating.
 
I already asked this at the dealer already. You can't because the hardware doesn't support the software update. The screen resolutions are different, so the current screen won't support the software. The new navigation uses more updated hardware, so it's not something as simple as updating the harddrive software and calling it a day. You need the hardware too.

The new navigation is nice but not that big of a difference that would make me kill over to get one. Just updated graphics/map, bluetooth streaming, zagat, weather updates, some revised voice recognition, and that's pretty much it. I've fiddled with it already and the menu layout and everything is pretty similar.
 
Yeah, the hardware would be different for the Weather stuff, but there is not enough profit to update the software. I would think it would be better to make hardware to last 4 to 5 years of upgrades and drop the features that need additional hardware.

Anyway, the weather is not worth it IMHO, and the real time traffic sucks compared to other providers like Microsoft for one. and I have not used the Zag crap because the listing are limited.

Sad thing is, I bought the FX thinking I am not going to put a Garmin in the Window of a $40K brand new vehicle, and I find myself wanting to use my Garmin in the DC area instead of the NAVQ system.

It's probably just the standard map data update and nothing more.

My lady picked up an EX today. The new nav is much nicer if you ask me. I have no interest in Zagat or Weather, but it is still much nicer.
