Evo Ecks

298 whp is weak sauce! I'll have a test pipe soon instead of HFC and a FMIC... then it's E85 and POSSIBLY cams.

This disappointment in power made me want to get a set of cams.

hah thanks, much appreciated, trust me. I'm just disappointed because of the other blue Evo X that was there with me and how his whooped on mine due to test pipe, FMIC and tune.

Yup. I should be back on that dyno at 360whp 410wtq or close to it.

On AMS's dynojet I'm shooting for 380whp 440wtq. Cams and E85 will allow me to get there.

Honestly I think before I shell out for coils I'll just get a Miata as a dedicated track car.

A turbo Miata, fully gutted and roll bar, etc... pushing 300rwhp would suit me perfectly for the track.

An update on this particular dyno day, I got the graph back and it's even more disappointing. Somebody told me 298 but turns out they were dyslexic and it was really 289. So the confusion is magnified because somebody with an Evo X similarly modded pulled 328.

I'm peaking at ~26psi and my AFR is pretty solid between 11.5-12.0 so I'm perfectly happy with both of those. Knock is ALMOST nonexistent, so that's good and healthy. I guess the room for improvement is in the timing. Regardless, I will most likely go cams, test pipe and E85 to push a ton of power (relatively speaking) with the stock turbo... and it should be torquey, hopefully 380-400wtq at about 4000rpm.

Ok a re-update on the dyno. Turns out their numbers can't be trusted whatsoever so I'm taking that 289 or 298 or whatever with a grain of salt.

The guy who got 328whp got his graph back saying 324whp after a "correction factor."

I got 298whp at the dyno and then a correction factor taking it down to 289whp

If you do the math, his dropped 1.2% and mine dropped a full 3% and we also had very similar mods done to our cars (both exact same car, 2008 Octane Blue Evo X GSR with SSS and Aero packages)

With that said, I will probably not go back there ever again. They had to take the brake air guides off in order to strap the car down and when he pulled the car off the dyno they almost didn't reinstall the brake guides and then when the car was turning out of the bay, he turned the steering wheel full lock and a LOUD click noise, then I got in and went full lock the other direction and the same exact loud click noise. Could not replicate the noise after that, so I'm thinking something broke. I will get the car on a lift soon enough.

To sum it all up, horrible experience with these guys, almost enough to make me want to take the oil cap off because I don't want any of their parts on my car. (remember that same exact car that ran 30whp more? he also had his brake air guides removed and then placed back on, no click noise from his!)

YOU should have bought a red FX

More rarer.

I'm gonna register for my first track event! July 10th at Autobahn!

Things I will get done before then: find titanium brake shims (the plate that goes between the pad and the caliper, get a titanium one that's a little thicker than stock and it helps prevent some heat transfer to the calipers and resulting brake fluid), install my stainless steel braided brake lines, flush the fluid with some better stuff.

Woohoo!

That's the course... I think turn 11 will give me some serious trouble as it's coming off of an over 1/4 mile straight. That's enough to get up to 120-130mph if I completely haul ass... dangerous!!!

Nothin but Swift springs. Will be doing a rear sway bar and that's it for this car as far as suspension goes.

Edit: he's on Stance GR+ coils, slammed.

1. My first run ever, against a bone stock Lexus IS-F

2. First elimination run in my bracket, the Honduh was in my rear-view mirror at the 1/8 mile so I just let off the gas and coasted to a 14.7, no point in pushing the car any more than I have to. If you look at everything from the 1/8 mile time on up, it's pretty damn close to the first run, I dialed in at 13.50 so that would've been a 13.5X run

3. My second elimination run in my bracket, the Neon SRT-4 ran a solid run, I bogged like CRAZY at the line. Most of my runs I either bogged horribly or slipped the clutch way too much and smelled roasted clutch after the run (one run was like that, so then I was overly cautious and caused all the bogs)

I'm happy with the experience, glad I'm working on my reaction time, and extremely pleased with the trap speeds (from 110.8-111.7mph).

My stock clutch didn't like my track day, and I am clueless when it comes to AWD launching. I could pull better 60' times in my Kia Rio (seriously). :embarrassed:

Oh, and I placed THIRD in SUPER MOD BRACKET! Muwahahaha. Unfortunately 3rd = $0, 2nd = $50? (registry was $45), and 1st = $200.

Yeah I noticed your 60 foot suffered on the 3rd run. AWD should take off fast, but must be harder with manual. Anything on the EVO boards about launching?
