If I wanted to put a double DIN where the orange screen goes what other items would I need to do this... I know it will not just fit in that spot without mods and I know the orange screen needs to be relocated.

So to anyone that has done this is there a harness available for the FX or do the wires need to be tapped,I had to get a premium sound adapter for mt QX with a bose system in my old truck, will I need one for this ?

Any help will be greatly apreciated

Thanks dr I read read that but what I really am unsure of is getting the aftermarket radio to work with the rest of the audio system, i assumint companys like metra dont make a factory harness kit to plug int the oem conectors to wire up the radio ?

Metra makes a harness and that is all you need for that part just match the colors i assume you still want to use the oem amp for your highs. Not hard to install as far as wires goes. There will be no use of the oem radio.

You wouldn't happen to have a part number would you, I was checking there site yesterday but I couldn't come up with anything

Mine is wired using some of the oem harness, but not much. Oem amp is removed so thats a majority of the oem wiring gone.

I'd like to just change the head unit ( clarion VX400 is what Im looking at ) rewiring the whole stereo is beyond my capabilities :frown:, If possible Id like the new unit to work with the rest of the bose system

I still use the Bose amp with my alpine unit along with the Bose cd changer but that's about it. Everything else goes through the alpine head unit. But then again I was not trying to relocate the oem screen like you are trying to do.

Im just going to retain the oem screen for A/C controls...on yours can you play cds and whatnot from the alpine and factory changer ?
