that's some progress given a day's work. glad u took the break and ease down during this heatwave.

overall, each have different intend of what deadening level. I myself wasn't looking for show-car audio blowout, but lightweight/balance/budget form. I would hate when I swing open the door and the door notches will not hold the weight of the door.

in the end, there will be noticeable differences. good work man.

Hey bro I have a question since I know you did this part. I'm thinking about doing the trunk door but I'm worried the added weight will damage the gas struts that hold the trunk door open. I know they only support a certain weight. Thoughts?

My drivers door doesn't stay open when parked on a moderate incline but that's to be expected. Like I said, BQuiet offers the best bang per buck. You can get better, but it'll cost a lot more.

Hang a 5lb weight from your hatch and see what happens. You definitely won't hurt the shocks by loading them - worst case scenario they just won't lift it up...

the tailgate on the FX is already fiberglass and will prob wont have any benefit of applying. the tailgate inner panel can be be applied, which I had done a few strips. I added just 1lb worth and gas shocks wasn't effected. used my garage pics as reference.

I think by 2.5-3lbs, the tailgate will require some hand in lifting and shocks will hold.

Soon ended up removing some of his hatch dampener. It was keeping the struts from fully opening. Not sure how much heavier/lighter the second gen hatch is though.

Notice a difference with it applied to the trunk door panel?

every little thing counts on my books. if u are looking for "how effective" then I wont be able to tell you since I had the entire trunk done in the same night. my suggestion is u might as well add some since your doing the entire trunk. right?

Yeah I'm doing the entire trunk/spare tire area and under the front floor.

I wondering if I should add the b-quiet v comp foam stuff. It's another noise barrier.

Aaron, what made you cover those particular areas? Knowing how you love quite, why not add more coverage especially if you have leftover product.

I did add more coverage. The area inside of the door is more important (door skin) where the window actually is. I covered everything inside of the door. Here is another picture:

Those little pieces I cut up for the outside of the door aren't as important. I just put them there for added deadening like what Soon did.

Excellent choice. The outer skin is far more important.

This is something I want to do but I always get nervous about doing it in case I mess something up when taking things apart.

Don't be nervous man. Just get a trim removal tool and service manual and you'll be good. Worse case scenario is a broken clip.

Can someone help me as I'm worried about screwing something up. I'm going to do the front doors but there is an front plate covering it soon calls it the X brace. How come I'm suppose to tape the glass? For some reason this sounds like an accident waiting to happen. I'm afraid the glass is going to fall if I remove it.

You tape it to avoid scratches. That glass is strong, just ve careful and you'll be fine. Definitely don't let it fall. ;)

Did the front doors today lol. I wanted to wait but I got all excited about it. All I have left is the trunk and spare tire area then I can say I'm finally done! After that I never want to see this stuff again hahaha.

You are indeed very brave man to do those mods by yourself. I swear I could have turned blue if I open my door panel and see all of those confusing tangle of cables and wires.
