Reason I ask is I noticed that in any car when you touch this type of material or scrape it, even if your hands are not dirty, it leaves a dirty mark like these, so I want to be careful in how to properly clean these marks and if anyone has had any prior success.

With the material on our pillars, I wouldn't want to use anything abrasive to remove the stains. I also wouldn't want to use anything that's soapy or would leave a soapy residue.

Try this stuff:

I love Folex cause it's water based. Since it's water based it requires no rinsing which means it won't leave behind a soapy residue on the pillars or headliner. Another good thing is that it has no harmful chemicals that might discolor the cloth on the pillars. You can literally find it at any local Home Depot or Lowe's in the cleaning products area.:tup:

thanks! I will try this out this upcoming weekend and post after pictures. Have you used this stuff for pillars or headliner yourself? I'm a little surprised that there wouldn't be something commercial available specifically for this....I see these kind of dirt marks inside cars all the time...

I've used it on the driver side pillar back over the summer cause the mechanic at the Infiniti dealership touched the cloth part of the pillar when getting out of the car and got it dirty with black grease.

Folex removed it all. I just sprayed it on a damp microfiber cloth and lightly scrubbed it.:cool:
 
Funny you say that....I'm dealing with this because my infiniti dealer mechanic got it my pillar dirty as well and as opposed to complaining about it or having them do anything about it or make it worse, I'm going to clean it myself.

I usually don't let the dealer do anything in my interior. I'm very particular about dirt, scratches, smudges, fingerprints, etc etc. Call me wierd, but it's just me. If they do manage to get something dirty I clean it up myself as any dealer tends to make the problem worse than what it was before. I actually think they find it offensive that I cover my entire seats in plastic when I take it in for service. I also don't like them washing my car cause I saw their detailer using a dirty old rag washing my car. On top of that they always half ass it too.

The dealer's service is just a :bomb: waiting to go off lol.

Any car dealership (not just Infiniti) always manage to get the cars dirty inside.
 
Fire0nic3, it's too bad you don't live near Ann Arbor, MI. We could have meets and do this kind of stuff to both of our cars! :frown:

Haha I wish! I've been living in NY since 98 and I'm already tired of this place. When you first move here it's awesome, but then after a while it's "ehhh whatever you live in NY" lol.


I think there are a few other member's on here with 2nd gen's that live in MI. Just check out the 09+ FX sign in thread.
 
hehe I already did! Nobody within an hour or two....I saw at least one from Grand Rapids and farther out. :err: You won't find many around this area. I live right off of Ford Rd. and all the domestic plants are within an hour of my location. One good thing I love about this car is that you don't run into any FX50 or FX35s around here or if you do once in a blue moon, but you also get a lot of mean looks from the UAW. :eek:

haha I see about 3 or 4 of them everyday here in NY. Over the past year I've noticed an increase in the amount of 2nd gen's on the road. Actually there's quite a handful of people that are on here in NY with 2nd gen's. Occasionally I'll see some lightly modded one's too.

And yeah you get alot of looks with our cars. When I drive it into the city here it draws alot of attention. When I drove it to Ohio last year people were eyeing it like crazy cause about 80% of that state drive domestic.

I will try to remember to give you a shout next time I am near. I live 2 hours from Port Huron, but do travel to Plymouth once in a while. I was in Plymouth for a few days a couple months ago.
 
That does look good.

But did you notice something else? The entire dash in the limited edition FX get's double stiching on it. Really nice! It also has a black alcantara suede headliner.
 
Fire0nic3, here's one more thing I thought of that would help complete your CF look.
My friend did this to his 2nd Gen G35 Sedan.

Custom grip steering wheel with CF. It looked and felt better in person.
