door locks problem (probably not actuators)

I would almost rather pay a little extra for the OEM part that's "plug n play" in a sense. $5 mod is great, but I don't want to mess with it that much, cutting into foam, etc. Decisions, decisions.

If i was as handy as jeff or andy, I would do the $5 mod, since if it ever stopped working, they'd be able to fix it again with another $5 shipped actuator.

I'm lazy and not handy so OEM part for me!

mine failed so many times, even the new ones that were put in, but if i recall it wasnt the actuator it was something with the alarm that was messing it up, so ill check on my service papers what was wrong..

Recently had my driver's door actuator replaced (under warranty) after being unable to open or close the door when the temperature fell below freezing.
The dealer must not have hooked them up correctly, because now the door will not lock/unlock when using the remote or the buttons in the FX, only works when I use the key.

I had this problem start in the recent heat wave in L.A......driver door won't work but then when I manually changed the options in the settings in the onboard screen to lock/unlock driver door only, (previously was all doors) and the driver door works again......weird........

Door Locks Problem

So any idea what I'm going to be out total? I see $165 for the part, what can I expect on install? I heard that this is something that the stero shops can do for a pretty quick turnaround and a lot less than the dealership.

I got 110K and both driver side and passenger are both going.

Thanks much

Hey, DRACULA! would you PLEASE, check what was wrong with remote control stuff , screwing with locks.
dealer install remote start- now- that crap started.
thx

The same thing is happening to the driver's side door of my 05. For me, though, it seems limited to temperature. I have noticed it when driving up in the mountains (under 40 degrees), but when I brought it to the dealership they couldn't get it to replicate. However, during the summer it works like a charm. Annoying.

I had the same problem with my car got it fixed by turbocad and install all new aftermarket actuator. Stealership wanted $2700 just for the 2 front doors to be fixed with new actuator!! NUTS!!!

on my 2004 fx45 when I press the remote only the rear and passenge door opens the driver door I have to open with the key, the strange thing is that if I try to lock or open the doors again they will not work.
