I bought my 2004 FX in the summer of 2011 from my dad.. i couldn't bear to see him waste it on a dealer trade in!!
My dad bought this 2004 FX35 new in 2005, and drove it in ontario for 260,000km and 6 years.. Then I bought it and moved to vancouver in 2011 where I drive much less and now put on about 10,000km a year. Now at 275km..
After the FX35, my dad replaced it with a 2012 G37x.. That car lasted a whole 5 months before he visited me in BC, drove his old FX all over beautiful BC, and went home and promptly traded in his near new G37x on a 2012 FX35. He's loving his new FX to this day piling the km's on like mad.
Meanwhile I'm loving the old FX for weekend trips to the mountains.. The FX replaced my jeep wrangler, which was outstanding trekking around BC. But the FX gets me 99% of the places I went with the jeep, in 10x the comfort and way faster. Logging roads aren't that treacherous with great tires on the FX and the AWD. Clearance is pretty respectable too. Have never dragged the bottom on anything yet! I'm guessing I'm in the minority of FX owners wishing I could raise it a couple inches to navigate the mountain backroads more safely..
I'm hoping to keep her running for another 8 years, up to ~360-400km till my dad retires his 2012 FX, and I'm sure the how-to's on this site are going to be instrumental in keeping her going!
Cheers!
