Any have an Infiniti OBD II reader?

I got a 'Service Engine Soon' light on.

I called infiniti and they quoted me $117.00 to read the code, which i think is nuts (they can miss me with that, lol).

I rolled over to Autozone, but there generic code reader wouldn't work on the Fx.

Do any of you'll have acess to one or have any tips for pulling a code?

That's odd I have a code reader and I know it aint top of the line and it never has a problem with pulling the code from my fx. I really don't know what tot tell you and maybe try a different store to see if there is different. I remembered one time I went to autozone and I got my code pulled so you might want to check somewhere else. or bite the bullet and pay or maybe try nissan to see if there is a price difference.

Sometimes "Check engine light" can come for no reason, system glitch and etc,as it is comer comtrolled and computer can do it sometimes. Before paying anyone, discconect battery for 30 minutes and then reconnect,it will reset car. If engine light will reappear after an some issue with the car and get it checked out by the Nissan/Initi place. If no code reappered, you are lucky and saved $. And by the w probably autozone guy didn't know how to use it on your car :-) e reader will read error out, unless error in ABS module of you car=) any check brakes or abs lights?

thats weird that the autozone obd doesnt work for you , i used it a while back and it worked perfect . try a different autozones obd scanner . or if u want goo ahead and do a ecu reset see if the service light goes away then. heres how to do the ecu reset .

ECU Resetting Procedures

Please read all instructions and be familiar with them before any attempts.
A stop watch or an analog clock with a second?s needle will be useful.

ECU Resetting Procedures

Timing is extremely critical. If it is NOT DONE within the specify time, the ECU will not reset and the Check Engine Light (CEL) will continue to remain ON.
A stop watch or an analog clock with a second?s needle will be useful.

Operations Procedures

1. Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch ?ON? and wait 3 seconds.
2. Repeat the following steps (2a and 2b) procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds.
2a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD).
2b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
3. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 10 seconds until the CEL starts blinking.
4. Fully release the accelerator pedal (while the CEL is still blinking)
5. Wait about 10 second.
6. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for more than 10 seconds.
7. Fully release the accelerator pedal (The CEL light will continue to blink).
8. Turn ignition switch to ?OFF? position and now you can start the car. The CEL light should be gone.

If the CEL light continues to remain ON, repeat the above steps. Timing is EXTREMELY critical to resetting the ECU.

Accelerator Pedal Release Position Learning

Operation Procedure
1. Make sure that the accelerator pedal is fully released.
2. Turn ignition switch ?ON? and wait at least 2 seconds.
3. Turn ignition switch ?OFF? wait at least 10 seconds.
4. Turn ignition switch ?ON? and wait at least 2 seconds.
5. Turn ignition switch ?OFF? wait at least 10 seconds.

Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning

Operation Procedures
1. Make sure that accelerator pedal is fully released.
2. Turn ignition switch is ?ON?.
3. Turn ignition switch is ?OFF? wait at least 10 seconds.
Make sure that the throttle valve moves during above 10 seconds by confirming the operating sound.

Idle Air Volume Learning (Throttle Position Learning)
It is better to count the time accurately with a clock.

Operation Procedures
1. Perform ?Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learning?.
2. Perform ?Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning?.
3. Start engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature. (EDIT: DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE FOR AT LEAST 5 MINUTES FOR PROPER OPERATING TEMPS)
4. Turn ignition switch ?OFF? and wait at least 10 seconds.
5. Conform that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch ?ON? and wait 3 seconds.
6. Repeat the following (steps 7a, 7b) procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds.
7a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD)
7b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
8. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 20 seconds until the Check Engine Light (CEL) stops blinking and turned ON.
9. Fully release the accelerator pedal within 3 seconds after the CEL is ON.
10. Start engine and let it idle. (EDIT: START YOUR VEHICLE WITHIN THE 3 SECONDS OF STEP 9).
11. Wait 20 seconds.
12. Rev up the engine two or three times and make sure the idle speed and ignition timing are within the specifications.

Im going to try a different Autozone location today.

Maybe im too prideful, but i don't like the thought of my parents neighbors, having to see me have to go under the hood & disconect the battery (still got temporary tags on her) as if im having some serious mechanical failure already. Not gonna happen, lol.

I will fill her back up (i put premium octane in) and make certain i tighten the gas cap up.

I remember that i had hit a serious pothole, which brought on the VDC slip light, another light & then the Service Engine Soon light.

Lastly the ecu reset i will try & do.

Thank you all for all the tips!

Buy a OBII reader on ebay for $20 or so, that's what I did. I can read codes and erase them no problem. There is no "infiniti" OBII unless you are talking about a CONSULT II, which is very expensive -- $500-$1,000 software that is run on a laptop.

Try another Autozone, get the code PXXXX or whatever, then get home and post it to us or just google it yourself. We can help you trouble shoot from there if you need it.

Are you a member of any G35 forums? You can make a post on those forums and get more hits since G35s are everywhere lol

I saw a lady the other day driving her Benz SUV on the rim (not a run-flat) because she was too proud to stop and deal with her flat tire. I gave her a thumbs up as she drove past talking on her cell phone, then I went and checked out the piece of tire she left on my street. Pride rules...

I took her to another Autozone (in Clinton Md) and there OBD couldn't read it either.

I drove her semi hard all day yesterday, filled her up, and the light went off and hasn't come back on since!

It may have been that the gas cap wasn't tightened properly, at least i hope that's what it was, lol!
