Front window tint % to match rear

The brand he used was Llumar. I might give the same brand tint used on the fronts over the factory glass tint a try or just keep what I have now for a year and just go back with no tints in the front haha. Oh well, I lose $60 bucks plus how much they charge to remove the fronts unless I do it myself. You didn’t do the hatch because?

Didn't do the hatch because i didn't wan't it to dark inside.

My shop here does tint using lumar for $80. You can get the lumar premium for $100 and the 3m which is nonmetallic and very clear from inside but same shade for $119. The normal lumar fades over time and doesn't come with material warranties like the other too. Less uv protection, let's heat in more, can cause slight AM reception problems because of the material etc

I plan on getting the 3M.

Don't ever just walk into a shop without asking specifics on which tint choices you have.

i did 20% on every window on the side and 5% on the back. since i have a reverse camera and side mirrors there is no reason to go lighter. love the privacy. my tint looks like 5% on the rear passenger doors since it is tinted over the factory glass, but you can see out clearly. i got tired of the purple faded tint, ahd it stripped and retinted. WORTH IT! so much in fact, that i had my sister and mother's cars tinted for their birthdays. they are enjoying 20% all around with no complaints.

You stripped your rear tints? Is that recommended?

I don't know if this means anything, but the shop I went to has lifetime warranty on there work and tint. If I decide to tint over the rear factory tinted glass, I'll ask for the Llumar tint model. They charged me $60 for two front windows and I got 35% done.

You would agree though right, that no aftermarket tint will match the purple color tone of the factory tinted glass?

Where did you get yours done? I'm also in Houston and need to replace the tints on my front windows.

If your tint has a yellow or brown shade to them, that to me sounds like cheap lumar tint. Ask your shop if it's metallic tint; I'd guess yes.

I would get 3M over lumar imo. 3M is better than even the lumar premium tints.

+1 i want to get my ride tinted up. I called this place and asked what product they use and they use suntek, do yall know anything about it?

I was told that the rear window tint is 35% because that is the legal % in most states. Having dark windows might cause you to get pulled over by the police.

He cut off a piece from the 3M and it was the same shade.

Im planning on tinting in the summer. Law in Oregon is 35% but was thinking 20. Is there a huge difference? I have wheat interior so maybe it looks a bit lighter looking through?

I'm in GA and law is 35. Mine is 20 and I have never had an issue with cops. I think because it matches the rear, its not obviously illegal.

It really depends where you live and how strict they are. I mean laws are for the "safety" of the officers so they can see in the car. So as long as you aren't a pain and have your windows rolled down if you get pulled over I would like to think they have better things to do than give tint tickets.

Tints seem to be one of those things that if you get pulled over for one thing they can easily add it on saying you're above the legal tint limit.

that being said I think 20% all the way around looks really nice. I am also a supporter of windshield tints. I couldn't personally go as dark as some have it but it looks really nice and is probably the most functional tint

I just got mine redone I had what I believe to be factory on the rears 25% and then 35% on fronts but the fronts were to light for me. I now have 20% in the fronts and put a 50% on top of the 25% in the rear. Along with the 70% on the windshield

I just got our fronts tinted two weeks ago. Went with formula one tint at 20%. The match is very close! As others have described, looking from inside out, the front tint looks like a charcoal color and the backs are a slightly different shade. From the outside its almost identical.

I think its going to differ from tint brand to tint brand. I went with 20% on fronts and you can kinda tell that the stock back windows are a little bit darker but hard to tell, you can argue that the front windsheild lets in light. I would double check with your tint company. Between 15-20 should be good.
