3M Carbon DI-NOC Film

They do make brushed aluminum vinyl's. I used to use it a lot. But since it's a "metallic" vinyl, it has a foil like quality to it that makes it very hard to work with. It doesn't really stretch much even under heat and doesn't conform particularly well to curves.

And thats the problem with doing brushed aluminum vinyl (or at least my fears of using it). I'd rather send it out to get done professionally if that is the case.

At least with the 3M Di-noc, I can try it for a little while and tear it off if I don't like it.

Definitely going to have to redo my console again, started peeling up around the inner edges of the cup holder. I will redo it when I get the primer 94.

Yea the primer helps it around the edges. You just have to apply on the edge and the underside of the panel to help the vinyl stick to the edge.

If anyone is interested I can do about 3 interiors with the material I have left over. I bought the big roll to do my friends cars. PM me if you are interested.

I can send more detailed pics of the pieces that I am only concerned about but overall it does not bother me.

Goodness Jeff..

That looks clean..

Maybe I can swing by Diego this weekend and get you to work on mine... LOL

I just did my center console today also, took long and I want to redo it, but maybe in a few months. Stuff is really easy to flex and stretch when you heat it up.. I have more parts that still need to be done.

3m Di-Noc is the best carbon fiber vinyl film right now. There are a few other brands out there, like avery, but doesn't really compare to it. It comes in gray and black carbon fiber. For the life expectancy, calculate about 60-80% of what the manufacturer states. I'd remove/replace it in about 3-4 years, not because of it fading, but because the glue/adhesive can be a PIA to remove.

maybe the silver CF will 'look' better?! Im contemplating silver myself.

wow nice find Alan! the silver cf is also much cheaper... keep us updated if you decide to dive in. Im seriously considering it if i can figure out how to take apart the center console, etc lol.

on a sidenote... also thinking about using the black cf to wrap my grill. It might be cf overkill though.. so still contemplating

Yes! 3M DI-NOC comes in 7 different colors:
3m-dinoc-carbon-fiber-colors.jpg

  • CA-418 – Silver
  • CA-419 – White
  • CA-420 – Graphite/Gunmetal
  • CA-421 – Black
  • CA-422 – Light pewter
  • CA-423 – Dark pewter
  • CA-424 – Brown
We’ve posted a little video showing you all of the colors as well:

YouTube- Showing the 7 colors that 3M carbon fiber DI-NOC comes in from CarbonFiberFilm.com

Please note that the CA-419, CA-419, and CA-422 (silver/white/light pewter) don’t have the same outdoor durability testing from 3M as the other colors, and aren’t guaranteed for 4 years. With that in mind, we’ve never had a problem yet with the lighter colors being outdoors, and for applications like show cars or garaged cars where they won’t be under the sun too much you really shouldn’t expect any issues.

My roomate does vinyl work. He wrapped his whole M3 in matte white and a carbon fiber roof. I know he went through a few brands until he found one that he liked. I can check with him if anyone wants to know what he uses.

I emailed them and they said the color CF will be release in April. I gave him (Dave from C.F.G.) this link and hopefully he can chime in.
Hey Guys - Dave from Carbon Fiber Gear/ Carbon Fiber Film.

As mentioned above we actually do have all 7 3M DI-NOC colors available and in-stock, we just haven't made them officially available on the site yet (just working out the logistics). If you'd like to order any of the colors, they are all the same pricing as the black that we have at Carbon Fiber Film...you can simply e-mail us or give us a call at 443-270-1603 to order up until when we have it up on the site.

If you guys have any questions about the material please don't hesitate to ask. Many of your questions can be answered in our FAQ and we have a good amount of information/install examples/tips on our blog.

I can buy a roll if enough people want the black carbon fiber vinyl one. It'll be cheaper than buying cut out sizes online. Let me know who's interested and how many feet you would buy. They come in 48" width.

etc.

at how much per foot?

Well, the more we order, the cheaper I can get them. Right now, ebay and other online vendors are selling them for $30 per foot (48" wide). I can probably get them for around $16-18 per foot, but I'd need to buy more than 80 ft. I'd be willing to keep about 20-30 ft. to install for my customers.

Another very reliable vendor started selling similar carbon fiber vinyl, so I'll look more into that also.

I just ordered 5 feet of dinoc but would be willing to purchase more if it was for a good price.

Redid the center console, this time I used primer 94 and it makes a ton of difference. I also accidentally scratched the vinyl with my fingernail on the cup holder lid. Just apply the primer 94 on the edges, corners, funky angles, and the underside of where you wrap it. Trim the excess off so only about a 1/4 inch is wrapped. Heat up the edges with a blow dryer and press the edges down so it sticks better.

Please use primer 94 and save yourself from redoing it over and over.
