What did you do to your FX / QX70 today?

nice wheels!

I just got my Rays lightweight lugs, and 6000k headlights to match my fogs...pics up laterrr

Your going to like the look a lot.....make sure if you take your ride to a shop and they have to remove the wheels confirm that they will use a torque wrench only or they'll hose your lugs with an impact wrench.......

Yes! I ran into this issue when I tried swapping my winter tires off. The shop that installed my springs torqued them on SUPER tight. I bent my stock lug wrench trying to get them off. :tdown:

well last week Sunday I got a pair of 22" rims (I'm loving it)
Today I did the following:
* Oil change
* Installed KYB schoks and struts
* Cut and installed HR springs
* Got a wheel aligment
* finally a hand car wash
all in a days worth of work (by the end of it all I was exhausted) of waiting for the work to be done ... lol.

hate it when that happens, Rich! What i ended up doing now is just slipping a 3-4ft PVC pipe onto the handle of the lug wrench for more leverage and everything comes off very smoothly

Be careful with the PVC pipe. That stuff is made to be moderately flexible, can fail suddenly (as opposed to something like iron that would deform significantly before breaking) and can leave very sharp edges when it breaks. Not very well suited to the "breaker bar" application as a material. Obviously it's worked for you with lug nuts so far, but I wouldn't go putting all my weight on it trying to loosen an axle nut or anything.

I don't ever post in this thread... cuz frankly.... I don't drive my FX much lol... but tonight was bored and I've been bored of the pics of my FX, so I took it out...

Dropped off my relatively new 10.5 GTR wheels for fresh paint to cover up a couple of blemishes. One was actually pretty tight but figured "why not" as they are already on-site. Re-installed my mirrors, tails and third brake light last night, shop didn't get to them while I was gone :mad.:

damn pat,... when I was a kid cars had bumper jacks, they fit into a slot in the chrome metal bumper & jacked the whole car up from there... well one day I tried to change rear leaf springs on an old rotted out ford falcon I had, had the car up in the air hanging for hours on just the bumper jack with me under the car tugging & beating away at hopelessly rusted spring shackles. I finally gave up as it got dark out & as I sit there back out from under the car thinking about putting the wheel back on, the car just fell to the ground... rotted bumper bracket couldn't hold the car anymore & she just ripped apart... you learn from your mistakes, hopefully you don't die from them though... be safe man.

That is scary, & we do learn from our mistakes.
Last week I drained half my pool cuz the CYA level was too high from previous owners years of Trichlor tabs that leave traces of the stuff w/ every tablet. Then at 2 in the morn. I was reading threads on forums that talk about how peeps have had their pools pop litteraly outa the ground with all the displacement from unknown groundwater levels. I couldnt sleep all night w/ the thought of not having done enough research, dumping 10K glns, & taking A chance on a killed summer & a 50-75K bill to correct if it did happen. All was good in the morning, & while not as bad as a car falling on your head, sometimes you risk those failed results for not seeing the whole picture or cutting safety corners of a job before you take it on.

Anyway, the rewards were good in the end

That's wild, just spent a week back east and listened to a story how a family friend pool hydraulic'd out of the ground and hosed the whole set-up. Really screwed it up......before that I'd never heard of the "displacement effect". Glad to hear that didn't happen to you as it would have messed up the national annual IS meet.

haha. Almost forgot to send out the invites.
I had no idea how much water it really was . . & heavy. Fortunately, them gunite & rebar tubs are built crazy tough out here in Cali, & really had nothing to worry about in the end, but I was already thinking of opening a skate par here in the backk.

Yeah his pool was a bit older and it just crumbled.....Skate park would be slick for the meet as well. Not sure if you want a bunch of sweaty FXr's in your pool anyway :err:

I am going to try to post some pics of my ride, with all the recent work that has been done to it, but quite frankly I always forget to take out the camera, and my blackberry will not do any justice. Worst case scenario I will take pics during the BIG BBQ on Sunday.

Got oil change done and I washed and cleaned inside :sluggish:

Just your standard plaster coat. I have the returns aerating up . . so gives the ripple effect. This is at running 1.5 horse

& this has nothing to do with the FX. Why do I always do this to our threads, duh.
FX is dirty & shown no love. I'm refinishing a dinette set right now. Strip, stain, varnish, the works. FX's home is now a sawdust workshop. poor thing. I gotta clean her this weekend.

That's one beautiful pool.

I am considering posting some pics of the pool at my house. I think people will be surprised what me and my dad transformed that pool into. Going to leave that surprise till the end of the week. :tongue (2):
