Which brand of HID bulbs are good?

Hi all,

I'm new to the website and have been reading alot about lighting upgrades. I recently bought the HOEN fogs and LED lights for my DTRL from autolumination and now that I installed my lights, the HID lights are too yellow. Where can I find some good 6000k bulbs for a good price? Would the HID bulbs from Autolumination work?

Thanks,

High quality bulbs will run you anywhere from $100-200. Best thing to do is look for a good warranty if you want to buy cheaper bulbs. If you don't mind possibly having to swap them out, you can get them for around $50, but possibly have to return them if they fail. Hold on to your OEM bulbs either way in case there are any problems.

One of the top aftermarket 6000K D2S bulbs:

The best 6000K D2S bulb is made by our OEM D2S bulb producer, Philips:

I've bought cheap ebay D2S bulbs. They all work, and mine last anywhere from 1 day to 2 years, it's hit or miss. Typically they're so cheap, $15/each or so with a 1 year warranty, it doesn't really matter except the hassle.

After 3 years or so messing with cheap ebay bulbs, I'm stick with the Morimoto or Philips now.

Just my two cents.

Whenever changing your bulbs, one thing you may want to keep in mind is color-matching your daytime running lights and fog lights as close as possible otherwise you'll end up with three different sets of color hues coming from your FX. I have PIAA HIDs (6600K), Putco LED DTRL (5500K), and MTEC Fogs (8000K). All are good quality bulbs, but none of which match well. You can probably do a search on which brands/luminocity ratings match best.

Whoah, PIAA's! Show some pics. Those are probably one of the most expensive D2S bulb out there, never seem them on a car.

I have 6000K D2S Morimoto (4300K Philips OEM in winter), 6000K 9006 DDM Tunning (3000K DDM Tuning in winter), and 6000K LED DTRL (autolumination or something).

Hey guys, Personally I would say go on eBay an get yourself a kit for $35 bucks shipped. Look for a domestic seller so you don't wait too long to receive them. I just ordered a kit for my wife. FYI 99% of HID kits are made in China. when HIDS became hot I bought a set of Phillips for $600. Still have them an the ballast just went bad on one today. I swapped it out with one of my eBay ballast that I had around for 2yrs. I used to buy them direct from china in bulk & sell them locally to friends etc. long story short save yourself $ an buy on eBay. I can look up the sellers name which I recently bought a kit from.

Or you can go with a good brand for not much more, have a warranty, and help out a supporting vendor on here ;) You buy a $30K car, lights are one of the most important things for safety, but you buy the cheapest thing you can find :/

I've been using Morimoto 6K HID bulbs for about 7 months and are running great. It was very white when I first bought it, but now it has a hint of blue in it. Bought it for $30 on ebay.

Hey new member here! Does anyone know the lumen output for the Morimoto 5K? I read somewhere that the 6K was a loss of around 200 lumens, and I was just wondering if the 5K were similar to stock output or still a loss of lumens. Thanks
