Looks pretty good in the picture but hard to say what it will be like in person. But personally I would go with something different. That thing would be murder to take care of.

Can't really daily drive that paint job. Auto Explosion has done a flat black widebody evo before. My wife does like that rendering though.

I always wanted an E46 M3 and after i was done modding have it painted flat black. i dont think i have seen one before but i think it would be too sick.

I know I should do it just to do it. My initial thought is to do it, the black paint in all the hidden areas would be helpful if I were to change the color again after the flat black. But that's 2 paint jobs in probably less than 6 months.

A few people have suggested to me to just do my planned color change, button up the little things on my list that don't entail 10s of thousands of dollars and call it done. I could dump another 60k in it and still have more stuff I'd want to do but there does need to be an end point to the project.

Have been eyeing some other project cars. :D my FX can be my daily still.

flat black (none are really totally flat, just different degrees of low to very low gloss) is definatley going to be a delicate finish, one main problem is, even a minor scuff that could be polished with a normal paintjob, would not be fixable without respraying the panel... it's easy for me to say so what, just fix it each time something happens, but you'd have to be pretty tight with a shop to be able to consider that practical.

flip side of that, compared to most custom paints, weather candies or graphics or even some metallics & stuff, the flat black is very easy to repair compared to most cutom paints... doing one panel is easy to match perfectly, where some will require much more effort to repair..

in the end, a flat black like this would be much easier to deal with normal minor damages on a regular bassis than most real custom paintjobs, it would be much easier to repair & match than even what you have there now TBH... in the end, considering how much cheaper it would be initially(a bit) & how much cheaper each repair or modification would be after the fact(a lot), this is not any more insane than actualy doing a custom candy or something really... & probablty would make more sense for a driven vehicle than an all out custom candy anyway, just do to the ease of repair, a candy would be more suicidal on a street car than this flat black really to me.

The repair on the matte black would definitely be easier and color matching would a hell of a lot easier than any pearl or candy. I've seen the shop do the candies and having a pearl clear now it's tough. But, the clear can be buffed and polished by myself or anyone with the know how.

The matte would just be hard for daily use, cause I'm pretty bad with paint care. I'm lucky as is with the grey which hides a lot of abuse.

1) Where were you man at the sema, i visited the falken booth six times and couldn't find you there. Hoped to have shakkend the hand of the FX master...!!

2) the Cosworth intake, will that fit the original engine as well...?? And will it gain more HP on that as well

3) above your pully's and in front of your engine you have polished parts.....what are those.....is that neccasary for the twin-turbo setup....??

SEMA was cool, until it came to being there everyday to wipe the FX down and set the DVD player going. Was invited to go to SEMA this year as well, but thinking I would rather just be a visitor.

Cosworth fits on any VQ35DE boosted or not. Very much the prettiest thing in there.

Can imagine that after a day or 2 you've seen enough at Sema.
Unfortunatly i will not attend this year as i'm going to NY next week...just can't have it all in one year :frown:
I heard that the cosworth would bring approx the same perfromances as a 1/2" Plenum spacer on a N/A engine,would you agree as it is quite an investment.

Yes it was the timing cover.I double checked it with mine but yours just shines more so hit your eye sooner in stead of the OEM non polished version :top:
