Widebody FX

Bodywork, that sounds very fair on cost. I mean, it's all custom fab, & looks to be well crafted too. I think you got a decent deal there.

Now, I do love to look at the pics each time I revisit this thead, but I sure hope we can get to the next page soon. Getting to the bottom for any updates is a pain in the A with the pictures loading while you're trying to read . . . & even worse on my Blackberry, OMG!:rofl:

Ok bump so it gets to a second page.

I'll add some more pics.

lol, I didn't take those pics and I do not have those in my photobucket album. Wifey already doesn't like the whole show thing, she thinks that girl on car action happens at every show which is doesn't.

HaHa.
But us guys like to look. She should be happy we dont swing the other way.

& that one in on the left . . . that bikini . . DAMN

8K for what you have is a great deal. still a load of cash, but in the end you are not just driving around an ordinary FX. it's a piece of art on wheels for real. From the engine to the body work, from the wheels to the rails. You have one of a kind, so good job man. I think most of us here enjoy checking out the pics. and if we can't do a wide body, at least opens up our imagination that anything can be done if you put your minds to it.

If the fender and rear quarter panel work been all fiberglass the costs would've been cheaper. They spent a good 3-3.5 weeks on just those parts of the widebody. Welding and shaping the metal. I'm glad they did not skimp on that part.

I think you're going to start seeing a trend with the rear flaring they did. There's a Mazda 3 wagon that was there around the same time mine was getting done, I swear it's a mini me. Same type of smooth flaring in the front and rear is not as extreme but not the usual bubble flaring that's been done.

A full show VW GTI is getting crazy widened right now. Same style flaring too. I'm talking like 6+" wider in the back.

the flaring is awsome. Auto explosion has done all my cars, even my first car when back in 1997, had a 1994 sentra SE-R that they did for me, shaved moldings, shaved door handles, molded and blended body kit etc (yes that stuff was cool back in the day). I can honestly say auto explosions has gotten a lot better throughout the years and much more expensive, hahaha. I was planning on working on a widebody rx8 project last year but decided to go a different route. The fender flaring has been around a long time but now since it's gotten perfected it can make any car look sick, case in point, rookie's car, one of the baddest (if not the best) FX's on the planet.

The guys at HIN came thru. They asked me a little bit after HIN Chula Vista if I had any good shots for the LA flyers. This was the rush for the photshoot with Grant. Small picture but pretty big step for a non mainstream vehicle.

Very nice Viet.....ummmm I mean Mr. celebrity sir.

Oh come on with the celebrity thing.

Congrats on the flyer! Lookin good! Plus the girl next to the picture of your car on the flyer is HOT too!

lol John, remember your assignment for the shows. Mr lots of pix.

In case anyone wants to peek at what I'm talking about. This is John's album for the HIN Chula Vista show. HIN San Diego Pix! Finally! - G35Driver http://www.speedraver.com/gallery/album224

That's killer!
Get me tix?

We'll probably have some extra tix. The code above can be entered for 5.00 off. I need to get that vector info from you soon for the site stickers.

mr popular! well deserved! who else is in your crew? r rides?

It's all Esteban's (Auto Explosion) fault. I've given him my last 2 trophies as thank yous.

We're not really a crew. Loose group of friends that go to these shows. We made a group name to battle against the independent car placement that we always run into. This way we're all parked together no matter what time the guys show up. They are mostly Gs Ted with the Orange Datsun 1800sss Bluebird goes with us as well. Pretty much anyone who is chill that wants to roll in with us is welcome to go.

Wow, this is a huge step! This is awesome!

It's not a huge deal but for HIN I thought it was a little off the wall when they called me. I was really surprised when they called. I mean it's a SUV in their rule book, and the SUV even though it's an import can't compete in the manufacturer class or the 4 door class. I wish I could though, sometimes winning in the SUV class when there is little to no competition is a cheesy win, would rather take 2nd in a class with some competition.

A big step indeed! made the flyer...thats awesome.

what/who is r rides?

R Rides is our group of guys that roll together to the shows. All of them are chill guys and fun to hang out with. No dues, no mandatory meetings, no mandatory events, try to keep any of the politics out of it. Just for fun.
