I am between Escort 9500ix or Valentine 1.

Which one is better and why? Does it even worth to get radar detector?

I recommend the escort for the gps lock out alone. If u do any amount f driving in the city you will be annoy to hell by all the false alarm cost by automatic doors and such. Valetine 1 Is more sensitive and supposedly pick up signal farther away but with no false alarm lock out it will just get on ur nerves an u will ignore it maybe missing a real one that just my opioion.

If you speed a bit, detector is worth every penny & more
& both brands are good

Both are very good, Id go Valentine 1, False alarms dont really bother me especially with the automute feature in use

Escort 9500ix= $450/Valentine 1= $400/K40= $700+

Not necesarily does he have YOUR speed, but someone around you or he might just be riding around with the radar on

We see now what the better value is
& the 8500 offers pretty much the same protection, so it gets even better

I have an Escort 8500 for a couple of months and i am very satisfied with it. I would recomend Escort.

I have the cordless Escort S2 Solo (runs on AA batteries). I would NOT recommend it as it doesn't appear to be as accurate as previous corded Escorts that I've owned. The detection is more delayed, probably because the power provided by the batteries isn't as strong as that of the cigarette lighter/hardwire. The benefit is no annoying wires and easier transfer to other vehicles/motorcycles.

I have the beltronics sti driver. It's undetectable from cops. Works beautiful for me. I put it to the test. I drove from Ny to canada and back and picked up cops on the other side of the highway a mile ahead and all over the place. I drove houdreds of miles in jersey and PA and caught them everytime. Paid 400 for it.

just got myself a used Passport 8500 x50 (can't afford the 9500ix). got it hooked up last night, will be testing it this weekend :.smile:.

I recommend the 9500i it's got the same feature as 9500ix minus the speed camera/ other camera info preloaded. I picked up mine used for 250 Canadian. It picks up pos miles away. However I must add that it is ALOT more accurate gps wise and radar signal wise if you did not go the invisicord route as having it sit up high on the rearview seems to hinder it's effectiveness a little. It still work great pick up radar signal when I need it too and now messy wires. Having it high up I notice la it something have trouble picking signal around turns, I never pull 90km/hr turns anyways but those that do beware

been using escort passport 8500x for almost 2 years now, drive in the city everyday but it doesn't give up too many false alarms. cops use ka band here a lot, best warning distance was from 1.1 miles away. Won't protect from laser guns though.

The only thing that can protect from Laser is a scrambler or other similar countermeasure device. Most new radars pick it up but by the time they do the officer already has your speed

Just for the record, radar detectors, which ever model you have and price you pay, can not give you full protection from police, because they work only when police radars are on but can't protect you from policeman and their free judgement if you are speeding even if their radar is not on,so be carefull. From my experience, radar only protects you from getting stupid(10 and up) tickets in the city zones. also if you are buying radar with jammer, wich is ilegal in whole 48 states, police can bust you because they have gadget "spectra 1" that can detect at and you are definetly going to the prison, so good luck!!!

yup and then you're looking at $1k+. Might as well get the latest tech out there if you wanna spend that much.

The deal for me are the direction arrows on the Valentine 1. I had an escort before, however I didn't realize how important it is to know where the radar is coming from.
I would not buy another radar detector without the arrows (my 2 cents)
