roll up my window it keeps going back down. is there a sensor on the window that
i can turn off so that the window will stay up? any suggestions will be appreciated
thanks

Common issue with installing these - need to make sure they are installed correctly.

The clip should be inside the vent - visible from inside the car, but not visible when outside the car.

The clip should be installed in the same channel that the window goes into, in between weatherstrips.

If you are pretty sure you installed them correctly, take some photos and post them - then we can tell you for sure. Lots of owners use these vents.

I JUST - went through the weathertech "hell" , got them to work and have this little annoying roll up issue on the driver's side front too, it only happens like one out of every 20-30 times but I noticed that the window does "hit" the visor at the top while goin up , I'm thinking of filing the edge of the visor so it has sort of a "ramp" for the window to slide up at the point where it makes contact with the visor .

Also - I have to say that the weathertech customer service is TOP NOTCH - they sent me replacement part too for free...

On the 2nd part of the question , yes you can relearn the window up feature , you need to take the door panel off , I've had to do this on my QX and a 350z before and it can be done but I am going to try the other thing first.

Hi,

Im having trouble with the rear rain visors from weathertech as well. Are those clips really necessary? I got the weatherstripping off but how are the clips supposed to go inside the weatherstrips? Its almost like the clips are supposed to go around the weatherstripping but then the weatherstripping would be all bunched up together if thats the case. Anyone tried installing without the clips? Help!

Clips are required - sounds like you are not installing correctly.

You should not have "removed" the weather strip. The clip goes into the weatherstrip channel first, then the visor goes in. But the visor does not go inside the U-shape of the clip, it fits outside the curved leg of the clip. This way the clip is pushing the visor out and away from the window.

This is such a common issue when installing, we should make a DIY for this install. Those confusing WT clips!!!

Thanks for replying, I managed to get it installed i understand that the curved part of the clip needs to be facing outside the window that way the ventvisors rests on top of it, the confusing part is the shape of the clip which is like a U shape. I mean I believe its a U shape bc the weatherstrip should go between it correct? I managed to get the weatherstrip in between the clips U shape but the weatherstrip is significantly thicker than the U shape opening. I hope Im making sense. This was the most confusing part. In the end I just managed to squeeze all the weatherstrip into the U shape part of the clip albeit not a perfect fit but the visors are snug and windows work fine. Did i install them correctly?

I have installed 4 other sets of weathertechs before on different cars and by far this has to be the most confusing and complicated one.

Nope - this is the opposite of what you want. The clip goes inside the weatherstrip channel, so there is weatherstrip on both sides of the clip. Nothing goes inside the U-shape of the clip - except for the window when it rolls all the way up. The U-shape should be facing down - towards the ground. They give you a little metal tool to help pull the weatherstrip out of the way before inserting the clip. You should be moving the rubber just enough to insert the clip - the strip should not be coming off the car.

Ok, finally got it done right now, the confusing part was that our weatherstripping has a hidden loop on the inside part of the strip that allows u to put the flat end of the clip in there to hold the clip in place while leaving the curved part of the clip facing outside so you can slide the visors onto them. Thanks for clearing that up Jumbo. Cheers!

It's cool - we can get it. We are smarter than the clip!

_______________ EDIT - man I wrote all this and you already got it!

I think the problem might be that you haven't identified the proper channel inside the weatherstrip, maybe?

Begin by just opening the door. You should not remove any weatherstrip.

At the top of the door, stick your finger into the center of the weatherstrips - there is one that seals the window from the outside and one that seals the window from the inside. The clip is going between these two strips it's a pretty big channel.

The clip is shaped like a U with one curved side on it. It goes between the weatherstrips inside the channel, facing downward. The window will actually go into the clip when the window is all the way up.

The exterior weatherstrip curves up and sort of gets in the way so you need to move that piece down. Don't take it off the car. Bend the one little section down only, until the clip goes in. Put the visor on outside of the clip - not inside it. The outside weatherstrip will seal against the visor.

Yes, the curved part of the clip should face away from the window. The visor goes OUTSIDE the clip. Not inside. Think of the clip as a spring. It's purpose is to use the curved portion of the clip to push against the visor. When the window rolls up the window will go into the clip and the curved portion of the clip will be between the window and the visor.

Drawing a picture or taking a photo might help you visualize it better - wish my car was here so I could do that!

If you read this and still fail, PM me and we'll get on the phone and get it right.

Hey ur the man Jumbo, u honestly went out of your way to write all that out to help a total stranger I have to give u mad props for that. Thank you so much for your patience and help, I was about to break the stupid rear visors, lol. I ordered the OEM bug shield for the hood as well I hope those wont be as much a hassle to install. The weathertechs were actually really easy to install once u know where the clips go. Took me 2 min to redo the rears once I read your description. Thanks so much once again.

jumbo should be in the business installing these weathertechs... i think i paid $50 to get mines installed... never again after reading this thread :smile (2):

Thanks for the props - a bunch of guys have done the same for me here on IS - I'm just paying it forward. One of the reasons I like this forum more than any other. You should do the whole community a favor and take a photo of that clip and how it should go in. I know this issue has come up before, but I can't ever remember seeing photos of the DIY.

They definitely need better instructions in the box with the visors. They really are designed well though. They do a great job and look like they belong there. You should never have another problem with them again.

The front wind deflector is pretty easy to install, but a little more complicated than the window visors. I've had two front deflectors - used my first one for a few years until I hit some road debris and it sort of shattered. The sun bakes it and it becomes brittle, but it lasted about five years before that happened. I plan to color match the front wind deflector at some point - that looks pretty good, I think.

Damn, wish I read this post before I installed the other side of the visors back on, Im afraid to take off the visors now that the double sided tape is seated in the channel now.
