Clear bra question?

Has anyone had clear-bra installed by the dealer on new 09-10 FXs? How much did it cost you?

Does it worth to put clear bra,as i have many rock chips in Idaho.?

as for is it worth it or not, id say go for it. I was too lazy and kept putting it off. 2 years later, i really regret not installing it after i see the multiple rock chips all over my bumper

Definately worth it I also put off getting the clear bra and I weep a little inside everything I see a rockchip now. I've been told infinit have soft paint. I can definately tell, my 09 is almost a year old and there are rock chips in various places already.

Also dealership is also known as stealership avoid using them other than for warranty service. I don't even trust them to wash my ride after seeing them use dirty rag to wipe off other customer's cars. I'm sure u can find better quality and price locally that does clear bra profesionallly

+1 on the clear bra! I think the shape of the FX just lends to more rock chips. I decided NOT to get the bra when I bought the car. Two weeks (and two rock chips) later I was back for the clear bra installation and have never regretted that decision. When I bought the car they offered a special installation of $300. Two weeks later when I came back the special was gone and they charged me $600. Still worth it - just not as good of a value...

Damn. Was quoted $850 for clear bra at Infiniti dealer. That is a lot in my opinion. What you think? Where else can i do it? What cost should i pay?

hopefully this can help you out for pricing

you can try buying a 3m clear bra from ebay for $150, and then asking how much for the install only

it's not worth it. If you already have chips, it doesn't really matter. Plus, the bra ends up looking hazy and crappy in about a year anyway and will overall take away from the aesthetics of the vehicle, whether it is a hood bra, on the bumper, or in front of the rear wheels. I had it on mine and couldn't wait to get it off

I've had my bra for six years and it still doesn't look "hazy and crappy". Maybe jbaker got a poor quality bra? If you already have rock chips and want to prevent more of them, I'd recommend it. For aesthetics, most people I show tell me they had no idea it was there. Is it a compromise for my own taste? Yes, a little. But the protection it provides outweighs the negatives imo.

IMO, definitely worth it. I had it on the black FX. Got it put on about a month after getting the FX, and there were already some rock chips. When they put the clear bra on, it looked like there were small bubbles where the chips were, but it was because the bumper was pitted from rocks hitting it. Over 2 years that I had the car, my clear bra held up fine. I really wanted to get a clear bra for the copper FX, but times are tough and I just cant afford shelling out $500 on the car right now. Just gonna have to deal with it.

I say worth it but dont buy the ebay ones.

most places will do it for about 500-$600 and offer a warranty of some kind

again dont buy the ebay ones because they seem to be lower in quality and will have to be replaced often.

I can say this since I did buy one from ebay and installed it and had to remove it since was no longer 'clear'. it also looked like it was pitted real bad and I could stand it any longer and removed it myself. I had it on for less than 2 years.

Got clear bra for 850$ at dealer, as 5 year warranty against pealing or fading or bubbling or rock chips.

Cost a lot,but warranty is good :-)

Look at Ventureshield website for authorized installers. I got mine for about 800 bucks, but it includes the quarter panels, back of mirrors, door edges, and back bumper (which is already scuffed quite a bit in 2 months). Had it on my '06 and it never faded or changed color...plus it is under warranty if there is a problem. Noticed a bubble on '06 after getting it...replaced without question. Well worth it IMO, especially if you live where there is snow/salt/sand/gravel on roads.

Just purchased the rear bumper clear bra from Invisible mask.
This is the one area that drives me crazy. I can understand rock chips, it is a by-product of driving the car. My problem is someone taking stuff from the trunk and dragging it across the bumper. I always have to tell people. No one removes anything from the trunk but me. This clear film goes on top of the bumber below the hatch lid.
Will let the forum know how difficult it is to put on.

The devil is always in the details
